Gigs with Urban and Herman. The guy does something [football related ;) ] that decent coaches are looking for.

No doubt. So do they stick with Ed Warriner and expand his role, or look elsewhere? I'm guessing they bring in someone new.

I don't believe Beck to be a very good QB coach as far as QB fundamentals are concerned, but he may be a decent offensive guy as far as QB running is concerned.

Tmart and TA were great runners under Beck, but had poor habits and techniques as QBs.

Most of the time I enjoyed Beck's offensive philosophy, but who knows what affect Pelini had on his offense while here, positive or negative.

As far as Texas goes, it would suck going from NU to Texas in light of how the Huskers' final season went in the Big 12.

Probably hard to believe, but Beck will be more heavily scrutinized at Texas than he was at Nebraska if the offense doesn't produce. At least he will have good talent.

I wonder.... After the horrible showing by OSU's offense against Clemson if Urban did not tell Beck to find a different gig or face getting publicly fired. Can't believe Beck would find the Texas job more attractive from a career perspective than being at OSU under Meyer. Or maybe Texas opened the wallet and offered him big bucks. But why in the hell would Texas offer Tim Beck of all people big bucks?

Sorry. But this smells like Beck was forced out.

Edit: Posted this before I saw article above posted by GBRhuskers. Yep, sounds like Meyer was never really all that happy with Beck

Not sure how it was done while at Utah and Florida, but he seems to like co-coordinators at OSU.

I would guess that someone new is brought in. Probably somebody amazing and overqualified.

Herman and Beck coached together at OSU, I believe. Beck may be tired of dealing with Urban and it seems natural for Herman to go with someone he knows. I shudder to think what Urban might do with a really good OC.

Didn't/doesn't Meyer have to replace Fickell too?

So they can fill a couple positions and possibly add another this spring if the 10th asst is approved.

Bet they go after good recruiters...

I think Herman left for Houston and Beck was brought in to replace him.

Not sure they coached together.

Maybe. I thought they said on one of the bowl games yesterday that they had coached together there, but I could have been mistaken. Maybe he called Meyer for a recommendation and Meyer said, "Glad you called, I know just the guy for you!"

My guess is that Meyer and Hermann arranged this after talking together. yes

Awesome offense that can succeed, has tempo issues, but when it fails it fails bad. Guys on defense can't catch their breath before having to go back out onto the field again, it can create tension between the offensive and defensive units. Time of possession issues also come up. All that being said you could see Beck's potential once Pelini was gone, our offense was fun to watch during that USC bowl game.

I'm not sure what the hard on is about Tim Beck falling on his face. kchuhusker and others have been "ellipsising of DOOM" the man's career since the end of the Pelini regime and the guy does nothing but go out and make a pile of money working for the best coaches and programs available.

So far, none of message board jockeys would get so much as a private tour of UT's locker room and apparently Herman is willing to pay the guy to run his offense. Which is kind of a big deal, considering Herman' offensive strategery.

You guys got it all wrong. Beck wanted out of OSU before Burrow took over as the #1 QB. He wasn't good enough to be at Nebraska let alone Ohio State.

Not sure where you got that from me. I agreed that he has what top programs are looking for, so he must have some "goods". Not sure if he ever had the full reigns at OSU, but it looks like he'll have the reigns and the talent at UT. All the opportunity is before him. We'll see how he does.

Well Bo's two OC Shawn Watson and Tim Beck end up as OC for the Horns. Watson went there to die. Wonder if Beck finds a similar fate.

??? No idea what the above statement even means (trying to troll: Beck, Old QB recruiting here, old coaches, Jimmy Burrow, Jamie Burrow, OSU, Urban Meyer ??).

Good on Beck. Didn't seem like he and Urb were always on the same page (but then again, Beck doesn't seem to ever be on the same page as his head coach). I love how local journalists tell now how he used to dodge them and not speak to them for 6-8 weeks at a time during the season...good luck to him at Texas. Certainly has local recruiting ties and I'm sure he'll be happy to be back in Texas

I hope for Texass fans sake, that Herman understands ball control and the drills to practice it. Because Beck does not value ball control, and does not know any drills to help with it.

I would think his recruiting ties in TX factored into his hire.

So UT has now hired our last 2 OC's. Awesome keep it up horns. That's an easy way to stay down. PS want an O-line coach?
They would never be dumb enough to hire Barney.

Bucknuts just hired former 49er QB coach as Beck's replacement as QB coach.

Edit: He's currently reported as being QB coach, not co-OC as well.

Beck leaving had been in the works before the bowl. Long before that

I don't think about Tim Beck or what Ohio State and Texas are doing, I think more about how Nebraska's coaching staff will avoid getting bush whacked by the Buckeyes and a few other teams in 2017. I'm kind of like That negative waves guy on Kelly's Heroes.;)
