Following his inaugural blast, Tiny Tim went ofer in his next five at-bats. Apparently, even in the lowly instructional league, pitchers have learned the benefits of sliders low and away to fastball "hitters."

He'll be lucky to stay above the Mendoza line this fall.

I bet he can actually hit a curve ball every once and a while though. Unlike some people i know…say someone posting in this very thread who has NEVER hit a single curve ball in their entire life. Not gonna degrade anyone (maverick) by mentioning any (maverick) names here though.

No you are hating on him because you think it is the cool thing to do.
No. I hated on him for football, where he deserved it because he wouldn't do anything besides try to be a QB. No hate now. I think it's awesome that he's able to play another sport at a relatively high level. HOWEVER, anyone with any semblance of baseball knowledge knows that he wasn't hitting off some elite guy.

You can stop trying so hard now.

Thanks.

Bye.

Jordan hit .202 in Double-A ball. Tebow, at 1-6, is hitting .16666667 in the instructional league.

So, no, he's not, but thanks for playing.
He hit a HR though.

And Jordan had more ABs than 6.
Come on now..

Thanks for playing..[eyeroll]

DON'T YOU DARE ROLL YOUR EYES AT ME.

You posted, "He's (Tebow) already ahead of Jordan." No qualification regarding how many ABs Jordan had was either stated or implied.

Argument: "already ahead of Jordan." Support: 1 home run in the Gulf Coast League (rookie league, at least 2 levels below Double A). Countervailing facts: Jordan hit 3 home runs in Double A. Conclusion: no. Literally, you are saying that less accomplishment in an easier environment is > more accomplishment in a more difficult environment. (more PAs is irrelevant when you're talking about total accomplishment and not, say, an argument about peak value (rate stats, most of which would favor Jordan anyway)).

this thread is getting out of hand. time for us to get some perspective:

case study one: DMX
* christian who reads the bible every day.
* aspires to be an ordained minister
* has produced 8 studio albums
* net worth < $0
* has reproduced 15 times successfully with six different women
* has practiced ~10,000 times (estimated) with probably 200 women (estimated)

case study two: tim tebow
* has a personal friendship with jesus
* won heisman trophy
* 2 ncaa championships
* nfl playoff quarterback
* net worth $4 Million
* has reproduced 0 times successfully
* has practiced 0 times

Which one of these looks like a winner to you? DMX's offspring/net worth ratio is off the charts.

I bet 95% of tebow's athletic ability is based on pent up sexual frustration.

Lord knows that if I hadn't had sex in 29 years, I'd be able to hit a baseball 400 feet, throw a football 75 yards and run roughshod all over UK's defense. Hell... Now I have to go repent.

I'm not sure Tebow stacks up favorably to AC Green, frankly. Man won multiple NBA titles. And is DMX broke?

I still don't know why people don't like him.

He's a genuine person who does a lot of good in the world. He'll never be a high-level professional athlete (most people aren't) but I for one can't blame him for chasing his dream.

It's not even about Tim Tebow, really. It's ESPN throwing him an absentee birthday party. The throngs of irrational fans stating there is a conspiracy to keep him from playing in the NFL ("he won playoff game!"). The people who start threads about a minor league baseball player's first minor league at bat. And sports media's obsession with "intangibles" (usually code for: I have nothing interesting to say) fed right into the Tebow hype.

I hope Tebow does well just because so many people hate him for no reason. There are sports athletes that have robbed and murdered people who get less hate than Tebow does.

there are sports athletes who have accomplished far more on and off the field who get less praise and adulation than Tebow does.
Who praises Tebow? Sports media mocked him all the time, some still even do.

Was watching ESPN a few weeks ago on one of their terrible shows and they were saying Tebow was going to suck and that Tebow was doing it for his ego, not because he liked the sport. Doesn't sound like praise to me.

Like Jason Collins, Michael Sam and Colin Kaepernick.
Ha, all 3 were and still are celebrated by the media.

Tebow would pray on the field and everyone went nuts. Kaepernick kneels during the anthem and all of a sudden hes Rosa Parks 2.0 to some people.

Like Jason Collins, Michael Sam and Colin Kaepernick.
When was the last time Michael Sam was even in the news, much less discussed around water coolers nationwide?

Most people probably don't even remember why Collins made news in the first place.

There are tons of devoutly religious athletes who do more in their communities than Tebow does, but they don't get the praise and adulation and public salad tossings that Tebow does because they're not as obnoxious (and, at times, creepy) about their personal faiths as Tebow has been.

The Tebow Fanboy Club, meanwhile, breaks the 2nd Commandment on the regular.

There's a ton of people who claim to be Christian but their actions speak otherwise. Tebow has walked the walk and has done a lot of stuff that doesn't even make the news.

I'd be very curious which Christian athlete does more charity and goodwill (and how you would know this). Also, Tebow gets so much freaking hate and criticism for nothing but spiteful people. I'm not a huge fan but the guy gets some of the most irrational hatred his way because of his faith and because he's a good person. The critics will deny this to make themselves not feel like sacks of **** but it's the truth.

Dude wants to play baseball and people freak out. Guy does anything and it's constant criticism from the same crowd but they will make sure to praise total garbage human beings though. Funny how that works.

Timbo doesn't just have a right to bear his arms, he has a duty to bear his arms for his fanbois.

Russell Wilson is a perfect example of why Tebow gets the hate. RW is just as devoutly religious, raises WAY more money for local philanthropic/charity groups, and is exponentially better on the gridiron. However, Russell isn't slobberknobbed by legions of Bible thumpers as a reward for every breath he takes, so he doesn't get the hate Tebow does.

It's about the obnoxious Tebow fluffers, not Tebow himself.
