Apparently those at SC never learned this. I do have to say that the SC BOT does always seem to be a real thorn in the side of the program.

Supposedly the hold up is that the BOT only wants to meet once and approve of all of the contracts for new coaches at once.

Which, if true, is one of the most negligent things I have ever heard of when you are talking about a hire of this magnitude (the OC). Remember Bobby Cremins? Remember Gregg Marshall at CofC (although that ended up being a good thing). Still, Time Kills Deal isn't just a made up saying with no meaning.

It is ridiculous if it is true that this isn't getting done just because the BOT doesn't want to meet twice.

I truly can't imagine this happening at another school. At the least, I will say I have never heard of this at another school.

Many of us have been Gamecock fans long enough to see "new" coaches bolt for other college or professional jobs. It's hard me to get excited about a coach or a player until they sign a contract or letter of intent.

Yes this has been an issue for a long time. It is time to streamline the process or make it quicker somehow.

Right. I think some people are worried about it falling thru before it gets to the board. Sounds like everything is agreed on in principle though.
Cremins still looms large in people's minds, but that was over 30 years ago and had nothing to do with the BOT approval timeline.

BOT is and has always been a problem. I shall scream it from the mountain tops!!!! Change the way they are appointed and you will finally see the difference.

It didn't as mentioned, but sometimes the longer things take something can change, better offer etc. As mentioned by others, until how BOT is constructed, SC will always have issues.

I don't deny our BOT is a nuisance, but have we ever lost a coach we wanted to hire b/c they took too long to approve contracts?
