Late in the season, and the “will Mississippi have 3 host sites?” discussion heats up. USM doesn’t close the deal, just short. Followed up by what seems like the annual regional final exit. Fans *****. There’s always next year.
Ole Miss ends up as a host, makes it through their regional. One game away from Omaha. Again. Baseball is a cruel sport. Fans *****. Bianco extended, lol. There’s always next year.
And then there’s State. National seed, but because of a stumble at the end of the season, fans *****. But then the Bulldogs end up booking what seems like their annual ticket in Omaha. There’s not next year. There’s this year. Time to get atypical. I’ve developed a theory that in baseball, the teams that win it all are the teams that fail the least. It doesn’t sound sexy, but it’s true. And despite some inconsistency, this State team doesn’t fail a lot. So from this Mustard Buzzard, good luck, I hope we beat you every time we play you in anything, and go get a trophy and bring it back to the Magnolia State.
