The games against Texas and Texas Tech were frustrating no other way to spin it. The play calling has been suspect. I do think Neal has to learn to play the percentages more. If we kicked the field goals we would have won. But looking at the big picture the man is in his second year. He hasn't had adequate time to change the face of the program. Its year two and we have been competitive in every game this year. We could arguably have won them all. I know there are those who say they have heard this and chalk it up to an excuse. But this would have more merit in year 4 and 5 than it does in year 2. Anybody who can't see the improvement from year 1 to 2 is blind. NB didn't have the opportunity of a spring evaluation period. I know there are those who say everyone was in the same boat but not everyone was a 2nd year coach trying to build a program. If in 2 years from now we are seeing what we saw against Texas and Texas Tech then maybe the whiners complaints would have more merit. You have to remember our offense is very young. With the improvement on the defensive side of the ball I wouldn't be surprised if we are competing for the top of the big 12 in a year or two. The recruiting has been much better as well. I still trust the climb but never expected the climb to be easy. I like some of the national pundits was thinking more like 4 years. Thinking it would happen by year 2 is foolish.
