honestly I've only had it after loud concerts or as a side effect as a medication.

I have had it from shooting guns and concerts as well but that usually goes away within a few days or a week. This has been a whole different animal for me, so took a shot someone on here may have a suggestion.

I work at the airport. When I don't wear hearing protection I can hear it. any loss of hearing can never be regained. If you around guns, or loud music, or just loud environments in general you should most definitely wear some protection. I get it on occasion. It just reminds me that I need to wear protection.

Have you been vaccinated?

No I haven’t been vaccinated yet—one of the doctors I saw said temporary tinnitus was one of the potential side effects of the vaccine and/or Covid tho. I believe this is related to a medical procedure that I had a few months ago. I’m prolly gonna be required to have another procedure that may or may not help with the tinnitus.

I am usually pretty careful when shooting these days. Even when I cut grass at my farm I wear the earmuff sound protection. Is there anything you do to alleviate the ringing at night when u do have to deal with it?

I have a family member with tinnitus who rapidly loss hearing in one ear after vaccination. It's getting worse. Doctor said that's a side effect and it could just be inflammation. I couldn't believe it when he told me.

I have it off and on, typically only lasts a couple days but have had instances where it has lasted for about a month at a time. Sound therapy was what really helped me, the video below in particular. Would listen to it before bed or if it was bothering me during the day would lay down and relax and turn it on for a little bit.

There are other options on youtube if this one doesnt help, when it isnt bothering me like now I cant stand to listen to it but for whatever reason when tinnitus is bothering me I notice it helping immediately. Also purchased some Lipo Flavonoid on Amazon and used it for a bit so it may be worth looking into as well.

You certainly have my sympathy. I've been told it's awful.

That’s pretty scary. Hope things get better for your family member. I have no plans on getting the vaccine until I get this tinnitus resolved—which will be hopefully sooner rather than later. Don’t wanna take a chance, even if it’s a small one, of inflaming anything right now. I can’t imagine having to live with tinnitus permanently.

Thank you I will certainly check those out. I purchased a white/pink noise machine and have a few podcasts on my iPhone that are similar. I also had looked into Lipo flavonoid altho I haven’t purchased it yet. I’m somewhat encouraged that you have had it for up to a month at a time. The most concerning part to me is that I have read if it last for up to two months at a time it most likely won’t go away.

Yes. 24/7, 365.

Went deaf in one ear 5 yrs ago. Constant Tinnitus since then. I’ve gotten used to it and 90% of the time I don’t notice it. But in a loud environment it is absolute hell. Very difficult for me to go into a restaurant or bar anymore.
I’ve tried about everything but no pill or home remedies will work. All I can say is after time you will get used to it most days. But it sucks.

I have both the ringing (constant) and the clicking (intermittent) forms of tinnitus. I just live with them.

I am sorry to hear that.

Do u mind if I ask how long it took for you to begin to adjust? I’m hoping that this will be resolved for me, but I’m also tentatively planning how I deal with it if it doesn’t. I don’t get as bothered during the day or even in restaurants and bars. My main issue is at night I can’t sleep even with white or ambient noise.

No. I just let it run it's course. It doesn't really hurt but is annoying as all get out.

Probably 2-3 yrs to get used to it in normal situations. It’s just a part of life now, constantly sounds like a seashell is held up to one ear. Just a very slow roar. In louder environments it’s very rough, physically hurts me.

I have had it since the early 70's, mine is due from the MILITARY armor and from shooting guns. No cure, reduce your salt and caffeine intake. Don't know how old you are but hearing aids help some. It's tough!!!!! I also have just learned to live with it! Same with me 24/7 366 leap year!!!! Might as well laugh, I have cried too!!!!

Thanks. Having dealt with this for only a couple months I have a newfound respect and sympathy for you and anyone else who has went thru this. Mine is more of a high pitch ringing if I do have to live with this forever I hope it tones down or I can adjust to where it’s at least less of a nuisance.

I have a hearing test scheduled with an ENT in a couple weeks. I’m 44, but I will do whatever I need to resolve or at least alleviate this. I have almost completely removed caffeine but I will also try regulating my salt intake. Thanks

Mine happened at 40. ENT recommended a Phonak Cros hearing aid system that transmits sounds from my left side to right side. Tricks the brain so it believes you are hearing from both sides. Can’t really say if it helps or not. I kinda stopped wearing it last year.

I’m in SW FL been here almost 15 years. I have had a tough time finding an ENT down here that seems to have a clue regarding my issues. Been to 4 of them now altho the last one I saw seems promising.

I may look into this—I haven’t had a hearing test yet but I don’t feel like my hearing has really been effected. Maybe to some extent tho it’s hard to say I suppose.

I've experienced tinnitus for roughly 35 years or so since my early 20s due to small arms fire, cannon blasts, demolition explosions, etc. while in the service. Loud music also factored into the equation. The condition worsens significantly after drinking a few beers or mixed drinks.

My salt intake is extremely low. BP only 110/78. I've reduced, but not eliminated caffeine intake over the years. Long walks and cycling has helped. After surviving two strokes in 2009, I thought the condition might go way. Nope. I'll visit a doctor again before long.

I know this going to come across as flippant, but I promise it I not my intent.

Mine is intermittent, about 40-50% of the time, both ears. Never know when it will come or go.

The crazy part is that one of my favorite sounds in the world is the sound of tree frogs in the woods at night, that is exactly what mine sounds like. Craziest thing.

So while it can be bothersome, I am luckier than some.

I got rid of caffeine this past year for other reasons. Did not impact my tinnitus.

Tinnitus can be associated with high end hearing loss. It may not be in your communication hearing range, so it’s less noticeable. Often associated with noise induced hearing loss.

I have the clicking version with the ringing. Had the ringing version for years and then one day at work heard the “click click click” sound. It was intermittent. Thought it was something in my office. Turns out it’s tinnitus. Experienced it for quite a while. Now that form of tinnitus only happens every now and then. Ringing is ever present.

Yes that makes sense. I’ve known that I should take the hearing test since this began a couple months ago just been putting it off. Hopefully my procrastination hasn’t caused any lasting issues.

I can’t imagine having the high pitch and clicking noises that seems unbearable.

Mine was SSHL, sudden sensory hearing loss. ENT wasn’t for certain the cause, most likely a membrane tore. Was sitting in my office and my ear popped, been deaf in that ear since that moment. Zero hearing. Took 2 steroid shots weekly in my eardrum for 6 weeks before we threw in the towel. I couldn’t take another one.

A lot of different things can cause it, blood pressure issues, stress, medication side effects, significant hearing loss, etc. If it is intermittent, it's usually not hearing loss related. One of the reasons it's difficult to fix is because it's really not your ears but your brain that is doing it. If it's hearing loss related, aids will sometimes help because some studies have shown the brain is wanting to fill that area where the loss is significant and when you wear the aids it is addressing the loss area but in the case of Justa if you have completely lost your hearing in one or both ears an aid can't correct that just like glasses can't help someone who is blind. A CROS aid is for someone who has single sided deafness and you wear an aid in the good ear and a receiver in the deaf ear and you are just feeding all sound into the better ear but that is just going to help with letting you being able to hear sound from all directions, it won't do a thing for tinnitus. A lot of aids like Oticon brand have a tinnitus therapy built in and there are maskers too but all they are doing is giving you a mild white noise to focus on so you try to ignore the tinnitus. Honestly, it is very rarely cured.

Yeah that’s exactly what my Cros system is for, unilateral hearing loss not the tinnitus. I do have a tinnitus masker on the app for the aids but doesn’t work.

Yes. I have inherited hearing loss. Woke up one morning when I was 13,(I’m now 61), my ears were ringing. Mom took me to a doctor, they said tennitis. Told me to wear hearing protection when shooting guns, riding tractors etc. Got hearing aids maybe 7 years ago. They really don’t help much. Last time hearing was checked ( about 5 years ago), I was about 75 percent deaf, and told there’s nothing to be done. It’s gotten progressively worse since. Sorry if I seem like a downer, just giving my situation.
