That surprises me. Not because I think he is a bad hire. Quite the opposite actually. I just expected him to take the Detroit job. His Achilles heel in Arizona was never being able to find a franchise QB after Kurt Warner. I thought he was wanting the chance to work with Stafford and Megatron. It doesn't matter now, but solid hire for the Titans.

I don't know a ton about him and it's hard to evaluate one single year in SD, but I think it's fair to say that he played a big part in putting together a very solid foundation in Arizona over the last few years. The records may not have shown it, but they're loaded with young talent and a franchise QB away from really being able to make some noise. Kinda reminds me of the Niners from just a few years ago.

As far as the Titans go, it's not going to be one of those situations where he's going to have to blow things up and start over, but he will have to make some quick, important decisions.

1) Do you cut Chris Johnson? My vote is yes
2) Is Locker your guy at QB? I'm far from sold on him and the poor guy just has a knack for getting hurt, but it's too early to give up quite yet. My bet is that the Titans are going to take a QB in rounds 2-4 as insurance
3) What do you with your high dollar vets? I hate to say it, but I'll be shocked if they don't cut Stewart along with a few other pricey vets. I read somewhere that they could free up somewhere in the neighborhood of $60M by dropping some of the guys that are on the downside of their careers. I do hope they free up some money to re-sign Verner though. That guy was one of the few bright spots that we had on defense this year

Unless he takes a serious paycut, or Whiz has some plans to build the offense around him...he gone.

My money is with you...They'll take a quality QB in the draft.

Stewart is prolly gone, along with Wimbley, Rusty Smith, Craig Stevens, and Verner. Britt for a-17'in sure. Pollard is the only high-dollar guy I'd want to keep. Loved the energy he brought even with the blown coverages and bone-head penalties.

My 2 cents...
