How will title IX come into play as college sports start getting cancelled ?

This is a very timely topic actually.

The Title IX Protected sports are certainly carried by Football and to some degree By Men’s basketball.

This may actually get us to where we have always thought we should be with regards to who should be in the highest class of College Athletics. Will we get down to 75 major colleges in football? Probably not. And I don’t see even losing 20% of the Baseball and Basketball programs that play D-1. Many of them will try to get the NCAA to force the Major conferences to supplement their small budget programs with some sort of “welfare program” for the good of the game and opportunities for all and such. And THAT is when the Fittest may break off.

There’s also women’s rowing where a lot of Division I schools have huge rosters to meet Title IX.

I’ve mentioned it previously. Anyway, Link: Here.

That begs the question. Since College Cheerleading has competitions, is it not a part of the Title IX equation?

Nope. Quinnipiac tried to do that and a federal appeals court ruled against them in 2012.

Link: Here.

Edit: Quinnipiac were sued by its women’s volleyball coach when they dropped that sport in favor of cheerleading.
