somehow adding to him not being fit to own a team. Ahum, he had the same addiction that one mr. nfl himself had...Brett Favre who has been the face of the NFL for more than a decade.

In actuality...he would probably be a good owner. I dont REALLY care either way, but i think it is absolute horseshit that there is any "beef" with it. I hate the double 17'n standard and NOTHING makes me madder than that.

I know that this topic is only semi sports related but damn that is right on right on right on. You can damn well bet Rush would have is hand over his heart during the national anthem and has 17 ing always been proud of his country.

And would be a terrible owner. The guy bashes drug users and dealers while he is addicted himself. I dont see many black athletes wanting to play for the guy as well. I am guessing he doesnt stand much of a chance at ever being part owner of the rams or any other team

So what if he likes to pop some pills. and he doesn't hate drug users, he hates his tax dollars taking care of people who are drug users. lets be honest, who really likes poor people or crack heads.

A. Brett Favre is not an owner.

B. Brett, to my knowledge, did not break the law in order to feed his addiction.

There is addiction to pain killers and then there is stepping over a huge line because of your addiction to pain killers.

There is no double standard here. The NFL would scoff at ANY owner who's profile, good or bad, is higher than that of the NFL. They would not tolerate anyone who could cost them money. Rush would cost them money, have people bitching, and all around make life harder for the league. They only have a single standard here, make as much money as they can possibly make. To read anything else into the situation is to inject your own issues (love for Rush or hate for Rush) into the conversation.

PS - replying to a locked thread with another thread. Classy!

Your reasoning is flawed and makes you sound competely uneducated.

At the end of the day Rush is a businessman who has found a way to become extremely weathly by talking, although I'm sure his interest in the Rams is more than money motivated (b/c he is from MO) he wouldn't be looking to do a deal like this unless it would be profitable for him in the long run. And any athlete that wouldn't want to play for him b/c of his polictical views is a pretty unrealistic view as well, if you worked for a large corporation and the new chairman of your company's board had different political views than you, would you quit? If you would you would I'm pretty sure you'd have a lot of luck going into your next interview.

good one!! The Ram players and some fans wouldn't play or buy tickets if Rush was a part owner. Damn, I bet they all quit and stayed home when Lawrence Phillips was driving drunk and killing people. Total load of bullshite, if he has the money and can turn a franchise into a winner then why not, it would put butts in the seats, more Ram junk being bought, and the NFL would be making money also. Majority of their current roster would not be on the team anyway with new management.

I'll commend anyone for turning down a job or a check if it means preserving your integrity. But, the folks (black, white, brown, or whatever) stating they would never want to play for him are really jumping the gun, are stupid, or are prejudiced themselves.

Players will have ZERO PROBLEM playing for Limbaugh if and when the Rams offer a better deal than any other team in the league. Why? Not because I think the players will give in to money and sacrifice their standards. But, when it comes down to business, these guys are going to realize that this guy isn't some rapist, bigot, or dude that kills puppies. He's an pompous, arrogant, opinionated, ***-hole that has a lot of cash. There's really no reason not to take a check the guy signs if he wants to pay you. If passing up his offer means giving up $10M, then there better be a damn good reason to pass it up. There's just nothing documented on the guy, beyond being a jerk, that should cause a reasonable person to pass up that kind of cash.

It's up to the Limbaugh naysayers to give legitimate reasons why they wouldn't take a check cut by him. Everything said against him are broad generalizations or preconceived notions based on nothing real.

As far as the addiction thing, both Farve and El Rushbo have recovered. I would bet my life that if Farve wanted an ownership stake there would be no problem. As far as the fans. Who in the hell buys the tickets. The players, if the money is right they will come. This is really not a big deal. His ownership stake would not be any more than 20%. Who else has money right now to do a deal like this.

and this is about money. The NFL thinks it will lose money in the long run with Rush vs. someone else. That's it. I don't know why this is so hard to understand.

Hatfields you are a dumass...he is a recovered addict...In your liberal opinion what is the difference between the Messiah being a cocaine user(which he admitted) and Rush being addicted to pain killers. Maybe your Messiah shouldn't be president because of his past drug use? Take off your blinders!! Do only liberals deserve a second chance or does everyone deserve a second chance? As far as anyone wanting to play for him...Do you not think when someone is getting paid 6 figures, they won't want to work for that? Man I wonder about you. Most of these guys love to play football and they are getting paid to play. I believe they will get over their anomosity towards their owner as long as that check keeps cashing. Rush loves football, his team is the Steelers! So what if he decides to purchase his own team. We do live in America where you have that right....Or do you not agree?

I am not a liberal dumbass and I sure as hell did not vote for Obama. That still doesn't take away from the fact that Rush is a hypocrit. Just because he is conservative doesn't mean I have to like the guy. I put him up there with Hannity and Beck as some of the worst people representing the right

...not because a bunch of left-wing, flag-burning, pot-smoking, troop-spitting asshats hate him, but because Dr. Limbaugh loves seeing ALL the NFL games, mingling with ALL the fans, players, and owners, and being able to say whatever he wants during the week.

He becomes an owner, his freedom of speech gets curtailed, he can't simply talk to players on opposing teams (or let them call into his radio show), and he's restricted to going to Rams games (which may be the biggest punishment).

that so many so-called 'conservatives who did not vote for Obama' hate Rush.

Truth be known, very few of them actually LISTEN to him. They take their opinions straight from CNN, Chris Matthews, and the Democrats - who essentially twist what he says.

The libs are deathly afraid of Limbaugh and Fox because they present alternate views. Views that are for the most part very well researched and spot-on. Frankly, these sources are the ONLY checks and balances that we have on the libs... Obama was not vetted in any way and look where we are...

Now we have rampant spending, debt that is totally out of control and you can bet your ***, when they pass Health Care and Cap and Trade, our unemployment rate will double.

But the unions and Acorn will keep the libs in office via voter fraud (PROVEN and DOCUMENTED by Limbaugh and FOX), while the mainstream media continues to chant the praises of Obama. Did you notice when amatuers caught Acorn advising pimps and prostitutes on how to purchase a home and use 13-year old as prostitutes as dependents, that virtually no mainstream media covered the story? This happened in NY, Baltimore, Philly, San Diego, and other cities...

The upheaval over Rush owning an NFL team is just another example of the libs telling centrists how to think. And sadly, many (including folks on this board) are taking the bait.

"Rush is a drug addict", while Obama blows Coke.
"Rush said Slavery is good", which is an outright lie
"Rush said that he wants Obama to fail" - this is true, but the rest of the statement was "because he is a Socialist, I want him to fail"...

Jesus Christ, people - think for yourselves and do some damned research before you repeat the opinions of the bedwetters. This country is going to hell in a handbasket in a hurry...

Brett, to my knowledge, did not break the law in order to feed his addiction.

If you're receiving a drug, any drug, in sufficient quantities to develop a debilitating addiction, I bet you're breaking some law somewhere.
