I'm glad that they won and are tied for first place and now have a chance to sweep and get into first place. At worst they are one game back should they lose tommorrow.

Of course, I would prefer to be in first with the sweep, but I am OK with leaving Cincinnati one game back since this was on the road and the Reds had this series marked on the calender. I felt like the Reds would go all out at home and play out of their minds, but it has been the opposite- fortunately. The Cardinals have played really well the first two games in a huge series, and I hope that they can keep it up.

To keep my title as Cardinals homer- the Cardinals won the game AND the brawl.

17 you Cincinnati. 17 you Brandon Phillips. 17 you Joe Morgan. 17 you Marge Schott. Jeff Brantley- you're OK. And 17 your Skyline Chili.

How are the Cards not better? They have a great 2 great pitchers in Carpenter and Wainwright. Garcia would be the 2nd pitcher on most staffs. They have the best position player in baseball.

I haven't watched them that closely this year, but seems like this shouldn't be much of a race..

They have no bullpen in particular no closer. No true 3rd baseman and Ryan and Skip have not played the way all us cards fans hoped they would. It seems that Yadi has not hit as well as last year too.</p>

Votto is a MVP candidate that has numbers similar to Pujols.

The Cardinals have good starting pitching, but right now, they need more offense. Oddly enough, it seems like the offense has picked up a little bit now that Ludwick has been traded, which is not something that I would have expected. I think what has happened is that trade has caused Jon Jay to be the second hitter in the batting order permanantly, and since he has been getting on, it has caused Albert Pujols to get pitched to more, and he has gotten his average up. But, the problem is, the Cardinals lack power outside of Pujols, Holliday, and Rasmus. I would like to see them get a third baseman, and a middle infielder that can hit.

I don't know what they can get through the waiver wire trade circuit though.
