In somber echoes of the Penn State halls,
There dwells a coach whom legend proudly calls.

In football's realm, a guiding light.

With piercing gaze and cunning guise.

With every play, a master's hand,
He molds his team, a noble band.
In Franklin's realm, they train and strive,
To keep the dream of victory alive.

In press conferences, he doth speak,
With eloquence, his words do peak.
A leader bold, with wisdom deep,
His promises, he'll always keep.

In victories sweet, his glory shines,
A testament to his designs.
With strategy sharp as tempered steel,
He leads his warriors to victory's seal.

Yet, even in defeat's cruel sting,
He stands unbowed, a noble king.
For in his heart, the fire burns,
To rise again, and lessons learn.

Oh, James Franklin, coach divine,
In every heart, your virtues shine.
With passion, skill, and honor true,
You lead Penn State to skies anew.

In Happy Valley, a man named James held sway
Big Game James, he was called, come what may
He coached the Lions with skill and guile
But when it came to the big games, he'd smile

Ohio State and Michigan, they were his bane
He couldn't seem to beat them, no matter the gain
He'd prepare his team with all his might
But when the clock ran out, they'd take flight

The Buckeyes and Wolverines, they had his number
Leaving Big Game James with a bitter slumber
He'd dream of victory, of championships won
But when he woke, the dreams were undone

So he'd gather his team and strategize
Trying to find the secret to their demise
But no matter what he did, it seemed
The Buckeyes and Wolverines always seamed

To be one step ahead, a step too far
Leaving Big Game James with a heavy heart
He'd wonder what he could have done
To change the outcome, to have won

But still he'd coach, with all his might
Hoping that one day, he'd see the light
A victory over Ohio State and Michigan
And his dreams of glory, he'd finally reach

Fabulous. I asked for one about Joe Paterno.

In the heart of Nittany Valley's wide embrace,
Stood a coach, a legend, whose enduring race,
Spanned decades of autumn, each fall a new chapter,
Joe Paterno's name, whispered by the rafter.
With glasses perched, and khakis crisply worn,
He paced the sidelines from dusk till morn.
Penn State roared under his vigilant eyes,
A lion’s legacy under State College skies.
A tactician’s mind, with a scholar’s heart,
For not just games, but lives, he played his part.
‘Success with Honor’—his steadfast creed,
In young minds, planting integrity’s seed.
More than wins, his legacy complex,
A tale of triumph shadowed by a vortex.
A storied tenure, both light and shade,
In the annals of history intricately laid.
For years his lions fiercely took the field,
In white and blue, never to yield.
Through victories, losses, the cheers, the silence,
Paterno's era, a titan's presence.
Yet as twilight came, and shadows fell,
The echoes changed within the Penn State dell.
A legacy, once unblemished and bright,
Faced questions deep into the night.
Still, history books on dusty shelves,
Speak of the good a man delves.
Joe Paterno, a name forever sewn
Into the fabric where Nittany winds have blown.
As autumn leaves turn, and memories blend,
We reflect on the nature of a human’s end.
A complex tale of glory and strife,
A reminder of the dual edges of a life.

I made it do a Haiku...I changed the world "Court" to "Field"

Big Game James, they call
On the field, he reigns supreme
Legend's legacy.

In a café corner, BobPSU92 sits tall,
Sipping lattes, indulging in scones, overall.
But amidst the bliss of coffee's warm embrace,
He casts a stern gaze, a scolding trace.

For nearby, children frolic and play,
Their laughter ringing in the air, so gay.
Yet BobPSU92, with a furrowed brow,
Sips his latte, scolding them with a stern vow.

"Quiet now," he murmurs, firm and clear,
His voice cutting through the atmosphere.
Though his heart craves peace, a tranquil scene,
He demands order, as if from a routine.

Yet even in reprimand, there's a tender tone,
For BobPSU92 longs for a calm of his own.
Lattes and scones, a sanctuary found,
In the midst of chaos, a peace profound.

One more, with due apologies to my Catholic friends:

Said the nun, as the Bishop withdrew:
“This must be our final adieu,
For the vicar is thicker
And slicker and quicker
And six inches longer than you.”

Too funny "coach divine" . It seem even chat GPT has a sense of humor. Bowls 6-6 B1G 56-32. Again too funny

Whenever I watch highlight films or abbreviated version of games, they too often show JF stepping on the field after a touchdown, head tilted, jaw extended, arm straight and elevated displaying a single digit on his hand. Obviously, just go for one

The one good thing about this thread is I see that many are laughing at Big Game James for his lack of results. It was different with our previous coach. His glasses, the whale pants, his exchanges with Dave Jones, were the source of our quips. With the current guy his lack of results and his BS behavior he tries to sell get laughed at. His act don’t sell no more.
