today's game is the most important game of our season. Why? Not because it is the next game but because a win today gives us a chance to beat Ky. Sounds crazy but I think winning today sets the table for a dramatic win streak down the stretch that will get us into the tourney. The emotions of the game are often overlooked. Today is a prime example. We play Auburn, a team that gets no respect when it comes to basketball, and we are coming off a great win vs our arch rival (even though %+#@ won't acknowledge that!). Add to that fact...we play Ky Tues in a nationally televised game that most certainly will truly fill The Hump for the only time this season. Lose today and things could seem hopeless to these maroon and white guys. Auburn is good, dang good, (I know their record stinks) and we better realize that from the opening tip, or they will take us out early, and we will not have the legs or mental capacity to come back. Today is NOT about coaches but is very much about players...do they have the intestinal fortitude to step up and win against an opponent who seemingly has our number lately? All a coach can do in a game like this is warn the players...a coach cannot force a player to play hard and get through any mental or physicalthings that may be carrying over from a previous game or even might have them looking ahead. A coach holds his breath today and just hopes. We will know in the first five minutes how our guys will approach this. Our season literally hangs on a win today.
