you are racist and you like the white bbq sauce.

Something I always ask for at Newks is a side of the horseradish sauce they put on the steak sandwich and dip it with those breadsticks. Good stuff.

and the new location had also closed. I guess what MB said. Fat Tuesday's was awesome before they moved, and they started skimping on the shrimp. Phil's place which used to be on Lakeland next to the quarter was my all-time favorite, but they shut down a while back, and Sal and Phil's is good.

The key to all of these is that I'm pretty sure they all use Gambino's bread. Vandelay should tell the story about Craig Scelfo, Gambino's bread, and Jerious Norwood.</p>

They operate the festival under their catering name, "Love at First Bite."<div>
</div><div>I agree with the others you mentioned... Parasol's for beef. Parkway for shrimp. Those are the staples, no doubt. Dong's Vietnamese is incredible, too.</div><div>
</div><div>Here in New Orleans, trying to name the best poboy is like these all-time MLB/NBA threads lately. You really can't go wrong with a lot of the restaurants. There's far too many for a starting line-up.</div>

Everyone has listed great sandwiches, of course places like Mothers are going to be top vote getters. I know Newk's is a chain and all, but there is something strangely addictive about the Q. I think they might lace the white barbecue sauce with something.

AA - did not know Good Times was closed, it's been too long

I have a bad habit of getting the same thing at different eateries (this and Newk's Q), but it's because they are good.

AA - waiting on the gyro debate

You're thinking of Fisherman's Harbor.

Fisherman's Wharf was located where the Lady Luck Casino was... It was on old pilings right where the sand beach meets the concrete bulkhead. It was a red building

Best Roast Beef was in Doughnut Land in D'Iberville when the Viatore Family ran it. She would slow cook entire beef roasts until they basically fell apart... loaded it on french bread much like a pulled pork sandwich. Pirate's Cover a close 2nd.

Crabmeat easily was Mary Mahoney's 24hour cafe.

Best ever.... Burger Burger poyboy from Abby's little Diner

Back in the early 80s there was an older woman who was a waitress there and she had this long flowing hair on her arms (like 3 or 4 inches). It was pretty fine, but you always worried it would end up in your food.

You referred to all these in past tense. Does that mean they no longer exist?

That's what we always referred to girls with long or excessive arm hair.

Doughnut land is no longer... now some dirty looking asian **** hole

Pirate's Cove (I think) is open but relocated off the beach in Pass Christian? washed away the beach location.

Mary Mahoney's did not reopen the cafe after Katrina, only the main restaurant

Abby's Little Diner closed in the mid to late 90's but the owners opened a new one a few years back called, "Burger Burger" on Howard Ave in Biloxi. It is the same old women with the same recipe... it's great but just not quite the same experience as the original location.

And still is. They would make a killing off food in that diner with the people leaving the casinos. I used to go there all the time for late night food.

And get the shrimp and oyster po-boy. It is out of this world. And totally agree on GT deli, any sandwich there was awesome.

Gotta agree with a lot of the folks that obviously explore more of NOLA than the FQ. Mothers is an overpriced waste of time.

BBQ shrimp at Liuzzas
Roast Beef at Parasols
Radiator Special (shrimp/oyster/cheese) at Cooter Browns
Fried Shrimp at Guys on Magazine St
Roasted Duck at Crabby Jacks

and though not technically a po boy - the alligator sausage and sauteed shrimp philly at Cooter Browns

Damn I'm hungry now.

I haven't had one in something like 12 years or so, but I grew up loving them (not commenting on how they may be today). That, along with a bottle of Barq's RB, was the stuff.

what is this debris poboy or whatever it is of which you speak? Sounds like my fatass may have to try something new next time I'm there.

By the way, I've already googled it, but it just says debris on the menu and doesn't have a description.

But you sure can't go wrong with anything they have in there. We go buy our meat there any time we grill.

If I'm not mistaken, debris is the **** that makes its way to the bottom of the pan, along with the gravy, while cooking the roast beef. It's damn good, whatever it is.

You can't even close it up and eat it like a po-boy because the shrimp are just overflowing. The bread and shrimp are just out of this world.

Pirate's Cove in Pass Christian has the best roast beef po-boy. Get it dressed even if you don't like lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo. It will give you a whole new perspective on a dressed po-boy.

you can still get it if you ask for the old style. The newer version is not as good IMO.
