Didn't the deadline just pass? I guess we held onto everyone we thought we would. Zach Lee and the kid from from MS are still at LSU?

So, we have to wait one more day, and we will know 100% for sure by Tuesday. But, as far as our signees, so far so good. But I am still keeping my fingers crossed- especially on DeMarcus Henderson and Hunter Renfroe. I will say that I still feel about the same as I did last week or so, in that I feel like we have a very good chance to get our entire class in, but anything can happen at the last minute, and it ain't over till it's over. You just never know when something crazy is going to happen at the last minute- just depends on how much money a team has in their budget and how if they have a surplus, sometimes they will pay over slot for someone if they really like them.

But as far as I know, nothing has really changed, but tommorrow would be the day for something to change, if something does change because of the deadline.

Now, as far as Zach Lee- he is practicing with LSU's football team, and it's going to take 5 million to sign him. He's not really making that much of a secret. The Dodgers are saying that they are going to make a "serious" run at him, but I think that's basically propaganda for their fans when they don't sign their first round draft pick. Personally, I would be really surprised if he goes pro. And I would also be equally surprised if the Dodgers pay him 5 million.

As far as Jacoby Jones, Paul Manieri has said that he expects him to go to LSU and not go pro, which is different than what I had been hearing for awhile. And I don't think it's Manieri being optomistic. It probably means that Jones and the Astros are still far apart in their negotiations. That said, Jones is the kind of guy that could sign on the last day because he really wants to go pro. But, this is why these high school kids commit to colleges- for leverage. So, based on what Manieri is saying, I'm going to say that he will be at LSU.

because the draft is, well, unpredictable. First round guys usually will get a million, right? What does college cost, 100K, max? What the hell kind of leverage is that?

basically means taking the chance that you will be drafted higher in three years. You have to remember that MLB teams do not like to lose draft picks because it costs them a lot of money to scout, negotiate, and of course pay these players. Having college as a back-up plan forces MLB teams to pay more because if you say "I'm going pro no matter what" MLB teams will not offer you as much because they know that eventually you will sign. This actually happened this year to DeShun Dixon, and he at the last minute made a commitment to a JUCO in Florida to get signing leverage.

If you go to college, and get drafted higher, obviously the player will get more of a bonus than he would by getting drafted in a lower out of high school.

And there is of course risk for the player that he could actually be drafted lower or get hurt, etc.

all of our signees are on campus. While the deadline has not passed, and it's not over yet, that's a very encouraging sign.

Wardlaw and Paul really should put him on retainer. Sevendust seems to be the most reliable source for "inside MSU" sports information.

Sometimes he get caught up wearing maroon glasses though. I guess thats not a terrible thing in reality though. He's always had good information. I remember reading his stuff in 2003 or 2004 on bulldogblitz. I actually thought he was Rob Harralson posting rumors he was hearing under a different screen name for a while, but apparently thats not the case.

I guess he just lives and breathes recruiting.

He's been up there this summer and working out. He has not mentioned going pro until later. He knows he has a ways to go to get ready for a shot at pro ball. Last time I spoke to him in June, he was really looking forward to getting to State and playing for Cohen.
