...but personally I still think Lee is leveraging LSU with the Dodgers. How in the hell do you reportedly tell the Dodgers that 6 million ain't gonna get it?? And if he IS playing LSU (which I think he is), LSU is in QB trouble.

"Good morning, Tiger Fans. Friday was a huge day for email and most of the messages I received were concerning Chris Garrett's scholarship at LSU not being renewed. As most of you know, scholarships are given for one year only and are renewed each season. It is very unusual for a player who is in good standing academically and behaviorally to have his scholarship taken away from him. Reports are that Garrett will finish summer school at LSU before transferring to another school, perhaps one in the Football Championship Subdivision where he would not be forced to sit out a year before becoming eligible.

As for Garrett, I really thought that he was going to make LSU an outstanding quarterback when he signed with LSU because of his size, arm strength and strong academics. Things started going downhill for Garrett in Spring practice when he saw limited action in Spring scrimmages and in the Spring game. I have received several emails suggesting that Garrett's scholarship was not renewed because of Les Miles wanting to move Zach Lee up in the depth chart as fast as possible, but I do not believe that to be the case. Zach Lee will make his climb on the depth chart without any help from anyone, that is, if he doesn't chose to play pro baseball.

With the departure of Garrett, LSU is down to three scholarship quarterbacks: Jordan Jefferson (6'5", 220, Junior), Jarrett Lee (6'2", 225, Junior) and Zach Lee (6'5", 200, true freshman) who was a first round draft pick of the L.A. Dodgers. Barrett Bailey (6'4", 195, freshman walk-on) is also one the roster. Bailey played his high school football at University High in Baton Rouge and is not your everyday walk-on quarterback. Bailey turned down scholarship offers to several smaller schools. Les Miles must sign two quarterbacks in the 2011 signing class."

without a committment from Lee to stay in school. That would be even worse than his clock management in the Mississippi game.

that no coach would be crazy enough to cut his 3rd string QB unless he knew 100% that he was going to have a replacement? That, or he believes the walk-on from BR is better than Garrett.

There is no need to cut Garrett unless he needs it for the walk-on at Christmas

I suspect closer to the real reason may be that he thinks the walkon is better.

I don't know if he will be their QB or not. Hard to say based on what they ran at McKinney H.S. I do know this for a fact, he threw 94 against us in H.S. playoffs and worked above 90 the entire time in front of roughly 20 scouts. He's all that in bb.

Not to say their QB talent on roster could win Heisman or anything, but they have been pretty good athlete.

Les Miles has made some stupid decisions. Decisions I can't explain, because the guy won at Oklahoma State, before TBoone "fixed" their problems, if I remember right. Who can explain college football.

But either way, I don't think LSU has had much QB talent/experience since Perriwinkle hit the road. I mean, let's face it, LSU would have won alot more games had that nimrod stuck around and done things right. Then, they'd have a veteran, although untested, duo of Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson to take over THIS year. Perrilloux would have been a senior last year if memory serves.

Lee sucked in '08 because he was forced into the fire way too early, really had a bad effect on him. Not sure what's going on with Jefferson. Neither of those guys were instant impact type players. Hell Vince friggin' Young didn't start developing until like the end of his sophomore year.

Miles will never be Saban, but people forget that he'd won before he got to LSU. That's his biggest hurdle.

especially in 2008 when their defense struggled as well. Crowton was alot of the problem last year. His playcalling has become awful. It's not coincidence he never stays anywhere very long.

I disagree with you about talent at QB. Jefferson as a Soph was 5th in the SEC in passing efficiency and threw 17 TD's with only 7 picks...their OL is not on par with what they are used to. This is probably their biggest problem currently. Their run game was average at best last year, and even fell below that when Scott went down.

Supposedly they are going to run the football more this year- we'll see. With 3 future NFL WR's and a new passing game coordinator, interesting to see what they will look like in 2010
