What happened to Tobias? 22 yards receieving and 2 yards on 8 carries? Was Clinton's defense and scheme that good? I had an ole miss friend who went and said he didn't think Tobias was as fast as all the hype, and that Joe Price sucks. Just curious someone else's opinion. I have never seen Tobias in person myself.

I have to agree with your OM friend about Tobias....just not as fast as his hype. However, he is damn quick with great hand/eye coordination. I would take him in a heartbeat.

Joe Price...meh. Grades may get him AND Tobias anyway.

I thought Clinton played really well. They did a good job of containing Tobias and Joe Price.

I will say that a lot of it was Bobby Hall didn't get Tobias the ball after awhile because MC was having a lot of success getting in the I formation and the fullbacks were getting chunks of yardage time after time, and they were down at the half, so winning the game was priority one. MC only attempted four passes the whole game. Tobias lined up in the Wildcat for one series, and didn't do anything. I think Tobias would have had a better game if MC wanted to throw to him more because Clinton had single coverage on him for a lot of the game. Bobby Hall was probably pissed that he was going to the MSU game.

Tobias is very talented. He is a legit player and is a prototype slot WR. He has very good hands and he can fly. Joe Price has not been as good this year compared to last. He is very fast, and he does well in high school because he can just outrun a lot of people.

going to get beat by Tobias", it led to an average QB for Madison Central having a pretty good night. The QB is getting better I will say that. Madison Central really misses the little midget running back that got kicked off the team and is now playing for Canton Academy, I think his name is Fred. He added a dimension that spread things out with his speed that helped everyone on MC's offense. I don't think Tobias has near the talent around him this year as last year but they are still a pretty decent team. With that said it ain't gonna be pretty when USP gets ahold of them.

I think Tobia is a damn good player and would love to have him.

I figured he was just pissed because he went for the sole purpose of watching Tobias gain 250 all purpose and score 4 td's. What he got was boring I suppose.

and he is the real deal. He always stood out when he was on the field, even during practice. He can run like the wind and easily had the best hands out of anyone that I've watched play for MC over the past 7 or 8 years. I'm not going to bash coach Hall because I had the chance to watch how he has changed our athletics program as a whole for the better from a closer standpoint than anyone on this board, but as long as he is there we will not be seeing any of his players coming to state including Tobias and its a damn shame because I truly believe our offense is a better fit for him and he will not do as well at Ole Miss than he would at State.

I've heard that he's been to all of our games. If that's true, something has him coming back, and it's got to be our coach, team, atmosphere, etc. causing this.

not sure if he made the Thursday night game against Auburn, but I know he did against Memphis and recently UGA. He's only been to one om and that was the Vandy game.

I'll occasionally run into players on the team now when I go back home and they all seem to think tobias is going to OM. I still think we have a shot at him, but coach hall's connections with OM are pretty strong and Tobias will constantly be pushed to head that direction.

he has lots of talent and lots of money but he doesn't have the talent South Panola has. And that's the problem.

I heard that his brother or sister recently got a scholarship to Ole Miss to be a trainer or something. I would not be surprised that the brother or sister would suddenly lose their scholarship to Ole Miss if Tobias were to go to State.

I bet we've had more transfers play for MC than South Panola has over the years..

personal opinion on Hall just because I'm sure you don't give a damn how much I despise him, but as far as recruiting, it goes on. His last 3 QB's came from Canton Academy, Jackson Academy, and currently St. Andrews. I guess Rosa Scott Jr High just ain't producing for him.

He won at Amory with three SEC caliber athletes in Rufus French, Joe Gunn, and our very own Chris Rainey and had Darius Brown on the d-line. Having four D-I athletes at a 3A school like Amory, they SHOULD win every game. Bobby Hall thinks that he is some kind of coaching God because he beat Tupelo with that loaded team.

But back to South Panola- a BIG reason MC lost to them was because Hall completely lost control of his team after a couple of questionable calls. I mean, people throwing helmets around and stuff like that, committing personal fouls left and right. What did Beautiful Bobby do? Nothing. Just stood there while helmets are flying around and people are yelling at each other. MC gave up about 21-28 points in that quarter and lost 35-21 or something like that. Not to mention the time he cost MC a game against Picauyune because of a ridiculous fake punt that failed miserably and royally bit MC in the ***. Of course, he blamed the loss on the defense despite the fact that his offense turned the ball over repeatedly.

Everytime I watch him coach, I shake my head thinking about all of those people on Genespage that actually thought that he would be a good HC at MSU. Having Bobby Hall would be like having a cross between Robbie Caldwell at Vanderbilt on media days and Sly Croom with Ole Miss/Johnny Vaught love instead of Bama love.

The problem for Hall is this: He is an average coach with good talent. He will never beat USP at MC, and the only way he wins 6A at MC is for South Panola to drop down to 5A because of their enrollment. (No, I'm not looking for that to happen)

To the guy that says that Hall is doing good things at MC- not like Mike Justice did. Justice was the best coach that MC had. If you put Justice and Hall on the field with equal talent, Justice wins every time. Why do you think MC is where it is now? Justice took over a piddly 2A school program and won State there in 10 years in 5A. Bobby Hall looks good because he is better than Ted Taylor- great DC, bad HC, and he has Justice's foundation to build on.

that all of those transfers are coming from the allegedly inferior, talentless private schools.

South Panola is one of the smallest 6A schools in the state. I'm not looking for them to drop down either, but it wouldn't surprise me all that much.

Especially with all of those new Memphis area schools, and a couple on the coast opening up. I think USP will eventually drop down to 5A in the next 6-10 years.

determined where I went to college. Why is it that the prick @ Olive Branch and Hall get the authority to tell these kids where they will play. Are the kids spineless, the parents spineless, or are they being "enticed" by some means? I don't think that any of my coaches, position or head, would have tried to influence me. I guess things are just different now

I wish that meant you could win every game. I'd have a state championship ring.

Ripley 2000season
Vashon Pearson -Ole Miss
Jimmy Brooks - Ole Miss
Britt Cross - State
Akeem Locket -Southern
Brandon Roberson - Memphis

5 D-1 players in one graduating class along with about 12 JUCO players and D-II players. All of that talent on a 3A team and we got dominated by Magee in the state championship game. Still amazes me.

And I imagine that the Magee team you lost to had at least one Griffith. Plus, Britt Cross was a walk-on. Not saying he wasn't good, but I listed D-I out of high school scholarship guys.

Samsel won't send his players to Ole Miss because allegedly they wouldn't recruit one of his players when he was at Lafayette County. Which is wrong on his part.

Bobby Hall send his players to Ole Miss because he is a homer that cares more about Ole Miss and hates State more than he cares about his players. Also equally wrong on his part.

Coach34 can tell you all about how the recruiting thing works, but a coach can certainly do things to influence where a recruit goes to college. Throw away mail from MSU, pimp one school's coach while putting down the other, lie, etc.

What these dumbass coaches (the two I referenced specifically) don't get is that if they send a player to the coaches school of choice and that player isn't happy, it probably isn't going to work out for the school or the player. That's why I wasn't all that unhappy when Chris Garrett committed to LSU. If he didn't want to be on MSU's team for whatever reason, then we don't want him either. Doesn't mean that he's a bad player or that we shouldn't have recruited him at all, or wanted him- I'm just saying that things are better when players legitimately choose where they want to be.

Yeah he was a walk on and was pretty good.went 13-2, 3A had some stacked talent that year. Shannon had Travis Johnson and Ken Topps that year, Corinth had Phil Hoyle.
