they are being investigated for essentially the same stuff that their basketball team is being investigated for, which I believe is some type of recruiting violation- probably something like too many visits or talking to players before they were supposed to. I don't know if that means that their coach misled NCAA officals as well. At least that's the rumor.
I guess they'll be down to three baseball scholarships now.
I have heard of baseball programs being investigated before- it doesn't happen a whole lot. We were actually investigated in 2008 during Polk's last year for practicing too much- I know, insert comment here- but the charges were dropped because Polk kept records on stuff like that very meticulously.
Texas was put on probation in the 90's for holding some type of an illegal camp, so it happens. But not very often. You are not going to see a lot of booster involvement when MLB can pay these players millions. That's a LOT of Bryan hot dogs. Also, college baseball coaches kind of have an unwritten ethical standard where if someone commits to a school, they stop recruiting them, and that curbs some of the underhanded stuff as well. It's not like that in football and basketball.
I'll say this, and I have not heard anything specific, but the word on the street is that the dirtiest program in college baseball is Vanderbilt of all people.
