aGAIN, with Bowden, all I see is a guy who had talent to win a pretty weak ACC on more than one occasion and flopped each time. So he won a lot of games? Big freakin deal. He should've won more and I see that as a danger sign. We don't need an underachiever.

Hey Coach34, want to hit this one off the tee?

the ACC hasn't been that weak the whole time.

Miami and Virginia Tech were not the programs they are today.

Nobody is asking him to beat LSU, Bama, Auburn or Florida consistently. Just compete and have a chance and then beat SC, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Vandy, Arkansas (while you can) and win the non-conference games you should. Within that framework, he can surely mix in a victory here and there over the LSUs or Auburns (hell, Croom even beat Auburn, Florida and Bama0. That's all Rich Brooks is really doing at KY and they are bowling for a 3rd straight year.
I am.

Then you have unreasonable expectations

We have, or used to have, a lot of fans like yourself who don't like to lose, but also don't do anything about it. What is the result? We're bad more than we're good, we have a small stadium, last in facilities, etc.

Then take into contrast, say, Auburn or Alabama. Their alumni and fans give, give and keep giving. The result? They're good more than they're bad, pretty much the reverse of an MSU or Ole Miss. And they can maintain it better.

Byrne's decision to can Croom had nothing to do with money, or at least the lack of it. If anything, it showed what increased donations CAN do for a program.

THAT is where you put your money where your mouth is. Anybody can sit here and ***** about a coach. Nobody is saying to go after Dooley and the like first. I really wonder about you sometimes.

Well Ga Tech kicked our teeth in plus beat Georgia, Wake beat Vandy and Ole Miss, Clemson beat Scar, Duke beat Vandy

Now Florida beat Miami and Fla State and Alabama beat Clemson.

So that makes the head to head record 6-3 ACC

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not an ACC fan and I'm not promoting the hiring of T Bowden but the weak statement is not factual. They may not be the SEC but they aren't weak.

"It just surprises me to hear that so many of you would seemingly be ok with Dooley or Bowden, even if they are way down your lists."

What's the alternative? I've argued against Bowden and am not high at all on Dooley, but if we go after the other guys on our list and miss out, what else can we do? Again, I'd be ok with Bowden, not depressed or excited, just ok. But, I'd support the guy and hope he won the SEC one day here. What else is there to do? Refuse to give money or support the new coach after spending a ton of time complaining about the old one? Refuse to support an AD who finally pulled the trigger before allowing things to go into extreme crap territory? All State fans need to get behind the administration and the new coach and give him a fair shot.

If you refuse to give or buy tickets for the reason of not liking the hire, particularly after all the complaints about the last coach, then I say you are a crappy fan.

...and to some extent we all are. But as Byrne just showed, a new sheriff is in town, and he's not going to tolerate losing. We finally, finally have some leadership at the top with Byrne and Keenum. Hell, there were 40k there for the Arkansas game and we still canned Croom. We no longer have to threaten boycotts. Byrne is going to hold people accountable. If nothing else, that is a reason to get excited.

and wins 6-8 games yearly but only mixes in a win against maybe one of those teams every year, you would fire him?

That is insane.

but I would be frustrated. He would be the football version of our very own Rick Stansbury. Never taking the next step.

Ole Miss has a ton of talent and a good coach and still only won 8 games. I wouldn't be nearly as frustrated as I get with Stans.

because they expected to win a national championship this year and obviously fell short, and thats at a school similar to MSU in my opinion...if he can get us to a point where we realistically expect to win a national championship before the year starts i think i could live with that

didn't join the ACC until 2004, so their best years of this decade were in the Big East.
