This kind of offensive performance definitely results in a loss the last few years especially last year. For a team to win when your qb throws well below 50% with 2 picks is a really good sign.
JT Barrett had an off day against Indiana also.....sooooo....maybe their D had something to do with it too..

Injury probably was a factor, but I'm just glad the staff got TA calmed down for the latter part of the 4th quarter. After that back-foot jump-ball INT, it would have been easy to come unglued and allow Sandlot Tommy to kick the game away. But NU pulled it together, finished strong and got a solid road win.

Didn't get to watch the game but Davison said on the radio that he had a guy wide open on that play and threw it in to double coverage.

Don't know if someone was wide open or not, but the ball was just heaved up for grabs like a punt. At that point I thought the meltdown was on, but to everyone's credit NU pulled themselves together and did what they needed to do to win.

How ironic would it be if we sat Tommy next week to heal up and Ryker takes on Purdue?
Methinks Fyfe and Langsdorf would both perform better at home against Purdue. Lessons learned.....hopefully we don't have to find out.

Told my wife at that point Tommy needed to sit... even if just for a series. Fortunately, we found a way to run most of the rest of the game.

Maybe just for old-time sake, we could have Ryker chuck it 55-60 times against the nation's 108th-ranked rushing defense.

Somehow I don't see that happening again. Langsdorf seems a lot more inclined to stick with the ground game this year than last.

Hmmm. Last year Tommy was out for the Purdue game and Fyfe threw a lot of INTs.

Any chance he decides to sit next week in order to be somewhat healthy for Wisconsin and OSU?

I am guessing no way. I just hope he continues to be able to play through it. We need him.

Tommie needs to thank the defense tonight because in my opinion they determined who won the game.
Didn't get to watch it but from what it sounded like on the radio I don't think we win that game without TA. He was running for his life and Fyfe wouldn't have done well with that. It's a team sport. Indiana's front 7 didn't give him any time today. Indiana gave JT Barrett fits too.

I think it played a lot. We will need a healthy Tommy rest of the way, like it or not.

Not sure how many bad throws were due to his foot, but seemed clear that several bad throws were due to pretty bad decisions.

Sometimes he just decides that stepping into a throw is not his way and he does an unnecessary back foot YOLO ball. The first pick, ibwont pin 100% on him, the second pick, that was an embarrassment to the position of QB.

I think Fyfe is more capable at the screen game and anything short to intermediate. It would not bother me at all if he started the Purdue game. TA was very much slipping back into his old habits. That will cost us games if it keeps happening. The coaches need to straighten that out. Tommy being injured doesn't help that situation either.

I don't know what to think about the O-line.. that was pure disgusting.. there were times where I looked and 4 or 5 of those guys were just standing there while TA was running for his life. It was as if they didn't block anyone.

Well, Tommy made some bonehead throws but he was hurt and without him we lose. Secondly, our o-line is dealing with an unusual amount of ankle injuries. Gates being hobbled too really hurt. So I'm giving everyone a pass and enjoying a tough fought victory! Give Indiana credit, they have a tough team this year regardless of their record. Hope we can get healed up quickly! GBR

he gets enough positive reinforcement when he chucks it up for grabs that these type of decisions will likely continue

1. The Riley catch in the 1st quarter - 2 defenders - badly underthrown and should have been an INT but instead a miracle bounce and catch and first and goal

2. The 4th quarter Stanley Morgan TD - there were 3 defenders there - none of whom played the ball

without those 2 poor decisions/throws being rewarded with TDs we likely lose this game

Barrett against Indiana 9- 21 93 yards 1TD 1INT Rushing 26 for 137 1 TD
Armstrong 10-26 208 yards 1TD 2INT Rushing 11 for 36 0 TD. Pretty comparable. Looks like IU defense had something to do with both performances
Without the bad wheel, IMO TA would have put up more rushing yards.
