Maryland is absolute trash. KenPom 134. Rudderless. If we can’t win tomorrow, and convincingly, there will be a massive exodus this offseason. Better get it done. Go ‘Cats.

I agree. The whole university will leave Evanston if we don’t beat Maryland.
Maryland is a game we can win. I don't really think there are any must-wins anymore. The season from a wins/losses perspective is kind of toast, so its really all about the development. Learning how to win will be important for the young guys, but that is really all that comes out of this.
It’s ridiculous to say any game the remainder of the season is “must win”.
This season has become all about development. Win might be nice but at this point it really does not really matter
You can’t have the bottom fall out of the season in this day and age when transfers are so prevalent and players are extra soft. It’s a must win.
The team’s goal should still be to win enough to avoid the bottom 4 and make the BTT. Not even making that in Martinelli’s final year would be pathetic.
I have gone back and forth myself if this game is a "must win" or not. On one hand, this season is toast and really nothing is a must win. This one game isn't going to make or break guys leaving or not. If anything, it's the other way around: the Cats collapsing and looking terrible is more a symptom of culture collapsing under the hood and an incoming exodus.
That said, Maryland ******* sucks (like, they actually suck, not just like "they're number 60 in KenPom and can't compete in the modern stacked Big Ten"), and this is a home game. Losing another game like this after already losing the MN game would be pretty pathetic, and avoiding being extremely pathetic does have some value. With another MN game on the schedule and home games with both pathetic Oregon and Maryland still left winning at least 2/3 is pretty important. Giving what fans and students show up something to cheer about is important. Not having Nick's career closeout be so depressing we're losing at home to dogshit teams is important.
