The offense was frustrating the hell out of us watching the game.

However fugly it was, the fact remains that MSU controlled the entire game from start to finish. We did alot of running the ball...tried to go wide with runs and screens often (slow developing plays with not enough speed or blocking). We went up the middle alot (again, not great effectiveness or powerful blocking). But then again, here we are at the end of the night with Dixon gaining 123 yards or so and a big win.

Was this Mullen's offensive game plan? We had very litte action working the middle of the field in the passing game (i.e. Marcus Green, etc.) ... didn't go downfield alot period. Was this the case of a wet game and Mullen planned to just mud one out with some conserative, clock-running offense and a defense that would hold Vandy at bay? And a special teams that would truly be the MVP?

Whatever it takes to get a W....... just wondering what the true vision of Mullen was for this game offensively.

i think we were doing everything we could to not let vandy's defensive backs get interceptions. that meant we ran it a ton and lee was in the game more because he's more of a passing threat without having to worry as much about bad decisions or interceptions.

Good point. I can't remember a single play where we gave the secondary a chance to intercept the ball.

Mullen is not a conservative offensive coach necessarily...but I'm kinda impressed to see that he could just ugly one out, conservatively. If that indeed was the master plan. If.

he didnt know what route Green was running and threw the ball before he broke into the end zone- almost hit the Vandy player between the numbers...Relf just cant throw the damn ball at all

Looked like a scrimmage mistake rather than game 3.

After seeing 2 SEC games, Tyson Lee is the better QB for us right now. We still need Relf's skills as well, but Tyson is the steadier, headier one.
