They are forced to pitch near-perfect games to get a win. Not much room for error...

We can't hit pitching that's too good, and now we can't hit pitching that's too ******. What pitching can we hit?

I'm not saying it's an excuse, but when you go from facing crafty, 95 mph pitchers in the SEC, to junk throwing 80 mph SWAC pitchers.......it can make you look dumb at the plate. It's kind of like Throwing a hard throwing righty on a Friday night, and following it up with a soft throwing lefty who throws nothing but junk on Saturday. It takes some readjusting, but you usually figure it out after a timer two through the order. We'll be fine.

All that being said, we should be crushing this fool by now. This is putrid

I have not been very impressed with us offensively this year. I was simply making an observation...an observation, mind you, I would not expect someone that never played a 17ing inning of baseball to understand.

so we apparently never figured it out. Thank God for Sam Frost. Frost is 2-3, the rest of the team is 2-17.

Has to do with anything. A team could be atrocious and still make Hoover this year.

The SEC's 10th place team has had a top 50 RPI. (Warrennolan) Last year Ole Miss and LSU were 21 and 42 and tied for 9th/10th. That's why the SEC expanded to 10, because those 9th and 10th teams are the opposite of atrocious.<div>
</div><div>A lot of posters on here don't seem to believe we're a top 50 team.</div><div>
</div><div>We can change the challenge to making the NCAA Tournament instead of Hoover, if you'd rather.</div>

Om was not a good baseball team last year

But unless we are making it to Omaha I will not be happy<div id="myEventWatcherDiv" style="display:none;"></div><div>
</div><div>I am realistic enough to know that can't happen every year....But we are on year 4 of Cohen and he hasn't made it yet, doesn't look like we will this year. This year or next year he needs to make it happen or we need to start thinking about making a change</div>

There are 300 teams competing at the D1 level. It is not like basketball. A D2 school can take one special outing from a solid pitcher and kick your ***. Hell, our 1985 team with 4 MLB players lost to Mississippi College. Making Omaha takes a lot of luck in addition to having a team that excels in all phases of the game. Look at our run in 2007. Omaha is the ultimate measuring stick (just ask Mike Bianco) but its not fair to pin everything on that accomplishment.

You are an idiot if you think that. We had to completely rebuild from the ground up, and you think it should take us 4 years to go from the worst team in theSEC to a Top 5 or 10 nationally ranked team? You are the type of MSU fan that pisses me off the most. Unrealistic expectations and far removed from actually understanding how things really work in college sports.

Moreso than equivalents in other sports. While obviously I want to get there as often as possible, the NCAA baseball tournament just isn't very well designed when it comes to the nature of baseball.<div>
That's why we've seen 3 seeds that went 10-14 in their conference (Oregon State) and even 4 seeds (Fresno State) win national titles lately. Not taking anything away from them, but there's no way either of those were even close to the best team that year, but a double elimination baseball tournament can produce crazy results.</div>

He was the best player on a turrible team. I believe he also play QB for their football team that wasn't much either.

When he was a Junior pitching against Pearl, Pearl's starters hung 11 runs on him in the 1st. Then Pearl put the JV team in and they finished him off in the second, putting up another 7 runs. The final after 4 innings of which the Pearl JV played 2nd through 4th...was 27 to 1 in favor of Pearl.

I witnessed that game then....and this game tonight....and there are 4 players from that Pearl team that are on the MSU campus as regular students....Maybe Cohen should have let them face Alcorn tonight**
