ESPN has suspended Pardon the Interruption co-host Tony Kornheiser after saying on his radio show last week that his colleague, SportsCenter anchor Hannah Storm, was wearing "a horrifying, horrifying outfit" and a "very, very tight shirt."

The Big Lead passes along the news that Kornheiser is suspended for "a few days" as a result of his comments.

Kornheiser was obviously trying to be funny when he said of Storm, "She looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body ... I know she's very good, and I'm not supposed to be critical of ESPN people, so I won't ... but Hannah Storm ... come on now! Stop! What are you doing? ... She's what I would call a Holden Caulfield fantasy at this point."

But the higher-ups at ESPN (and, presumably, Storm herself) apparently didn't find it so amusing.

Kornheiser opened his radio show the next day by saying, "I apologize, unequivocally ... I'm a sarcastic, subversive guy ... I'm a troll, look at me. I have no right to insult what anybody looks like or what anybody wears. That, I think, should go without saying." </div>

They can run with any rumor that does not have the first bit of truth and have coaches fired because their son is a lazy crybaby, but when Kornheiser calls out a chick for looking stupid he gets suspended for three days. I don't even know what she was wearing, but he gets suspended?? Come on. That is ridiculous.

and these were his comments:
"Hannah Storm in a horrifying, horrifying outfit today. She's got on red go-go boots and a catholic school plaid skirt ... way too short for somebody in her 40s or maybe early 50s by now." [She's 47.] "She's got on her typically very, very tight shirt. She looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body ... I know she's very good, and I'm not supposed to be critical of ESPN people, so I won't ... but Hannah Storm ... come on now! Stop! What are you doing? ... the viable alternative is the League Networks. MLB Network, NFL Network, and etc. They are all about that sport and they don't have the BS. Now that MLB Network has Peter Gammons, I have no reason to watch Baseball Tonight.

Yep. NFL network is very good. I gave up ESPN NFL Primetime for NFL Network's highlight show with Eisen, Mooch, and Deion Sanders.

At least on radio, Fox will never be a viable alternative. They fired their best on-air personality (Steve Czaban) in December to save money and replaced him with Stephen A. Smith. And their morning show is rebroadcast from noon to 3, so Smith is on for 6 hours every day. ESPN pimps Mike and Mike and their other radio personalities as much as possible on TV. Fox never even mentions that they have a radio station.
