Wilbon said that he disagreed with LaRussa, but that he appreciated that he wasn't scared to give his opinion. They both questioned how this would go over in the clubhouse, though. </p>

"I didn't even know they were coming. What are they going to do? Where are they playing?"

Classic putting it back in Media's face of making something out of nothing and asking stupid questions.

LaRussa and Arizona don't have problems with immigrants. The problem is illegal immigrants. Big difference between immigrants and illegal immigrants. Kinda like consumer and shoplifter, car buyer and car thief.

This reminds me of Schilling in 2004 when he said "everybody go vote and vote for Bush"... The media blew up about that. Here we have a well respected guy say something that is not that controversial from 70% of American's viewpoint, but they try to make a story out of it.

They're just like car thieves and shoplifters. ...Except that car thieves and shoplifters violate the private property rights of others by taking things that don't belong to them, while "illegal immigrants" just cross an arbitrary line on a map.

Do some research into how much the 'harmless' illegals are costing states like California and Arizona every year....I don't have a problem with folks coming here looking for a better life. I do have a problem with people coming here and not paying taxes, thus requiring me and everyone else who *does* pay taxes to foot the bill for their medical care, education, welfare, etc. And yeah, it's a substantial amount.

If they come here and pay their FICA like everyone else then I'm all for it. Otherwise they need to hit the bricks.

I don't have a problem with them not paying taxes. I would love to not have to pay taxes. I do have a problem with them (or anyone else) getting free stuff from government. In other words, it's not the illegals at fault, it's government for stealing our money and giving it to them in the form of various services.

Okay so we agree in most essentials, which I think is a first on this message board.

In before the lock!

It is usually their children that are costing USA taxpayers money. For indigent care, education, heath care and the list goes on.... That is my biggest issue is with this. They would not be able to work for the wages they do today, they would get minimum wage. Even though they would be paying taxes, their ability to live on what they are making and send back to their relatives reduces.

that anybody on the team gives a crap. They're trying to win baseball games.

There are conservative and liberal players throughout the big leagues, and while the players may not all agree politically, they're all there to do one thing- win. It's no different than being conservative and working for a boss that's liberal. You're still going to do your job to the best of your ability. And if you don't, because of your bosses political views, you're an idiot.

And yes, I do realize that there are a lot of Latino players in MLB, but most of the players came to America legally because they were acquired to play baseball by American teams.

Or from someone who doesn't think that a line on a map that was decided by political decisions and/ or a physical feature like a river automatically makes someone on one side of the line a good guy and everyone else a bad guy.

Agreed. The only place reasonable people automatically hate or lose all respect for someone based solely on political views is the Internet.

It doesn't automatically make them a bad guy. Coming across it illegally makes them a bad guy. Let someone come into your arbitrary property line or arbitrary front door threshold. I'm sure you would love that and embrace it.
