Texas was their only shot at a win because Texas doesnt swing a very good bat. UNC and AZ State swing good bats and can pitch so USM was in trouble from the start against either of them. USM's lack of pitching is finally catching up with them in Omaha. At least they made it but they are being exposed big time against UNC.
I'll admit I haven't seen a ton of them this year, but from what I have seen, I've been very unimpressed with their bats. They are obviously a good team, but I expected more from a No. 1 national seed. I really feel like ASU, LSU, and North Carolina are the top teams in the CWS this year. I thought Fullerton was up there as well, but their 2 and cue was a little surprising to me.
UNC is the best team in the CWS to me and who I am pulling for. They were very unlucky against ASU. I think UNC has the pitching to come back and win the bracket. I think UNC has to be pulling for Texas to win over ASU. I think UNC can beat Texas 2 times since Texas does not hit the ball very well and UNC does. However, I expect ASU to beat Texas tonight. Both teams will throw their ace in game 2 so it should be interesting to see.
Like you, I was very disappointed in Texas offense for a national #1 seed. I think they played in a weak Big 12 this year. Obviously the SEC and ACC are the two best leagues.
