I know on the academic of a university schools dont like to hire their own PhD students, because its considered "academic inbreeding". I kind of have the same feelings towards our athletic department. I think Byrne was a helluva AD. He did more in less time than most. I know he got his Masters at MSU, but I wouldn't consider him a "State" guy. Would you take another Byrne, or go with someone with a stronger MSU pedigree in hopes he would last longer?
