1. Eric Moulds
2. Don Smith
3. Derrick Zimmerman
4. Jerious Norwood
5. Tony James

...but I think you mean individuals that played a sport and were the best at their sport.

I think your list nails it.

For every John Kruk and Matt Stairs, there's a:
1)Grady Sizemore (backup point guard at Arizona)
2)Scott Rolen (offered basketball scholly to Indiana from Bob Knight)
3)Derrek Lee (offered basketball scholly to UNC)
4)Deion Sanders (one of the best athletes of all-time)
5)Brian Jordan (played pro football)
6)Bo Jackson (arguably the best athlete ever)

The list could go on for ages....

I'll actually go out on a limb and say baseball is probably the hardest of the 3 sports to master (minus QB in NFL). Name any other sportin whichyou can succeed 33% of the time and be considered GREAT.

I don't know if he'd make the top 5, but Dante' Jones would be a pretty good athlete who played at MSU. Not only was he a good athlete, but he was "smart" too! He passed 36 hours one summer to become eligible to play! What a student-athlete!

Seriously, he was a beast.

So I really don't know. I do know that Google apparently has alot of cool stuff that I didn't even know about. I just found Google Scholar, which is a free legal search engine, and it's handy.</p>

What about athletes who helped earn MSU our only NCAA national championships?
Laurent Miquelard and Joc Simmons in Men's Doubles
Jackie Holden and Claire Pollard in Women's Doubles

Throw in everyone on the disc golf team too.

are super athletes who chose baseball, not necessarily super athletic baseball players. This really turns into a debate over semantics.

I do think baseballis oneof thetop two sports to "master" though. I mean round ball, round bat, 'nuff said.

I was at Don Magruder Scott Field yesterday and read the monument by the locker room door. I didn't realize how amazing an athlete he was.

He was a decathlete and would have qualified for the Olympics if it was not for the boycott in 1984.

Baseball players are athletes. It takes more of the rudimentary athletic skills (locomotion, stability, and manipulation) to play baseball than just about any other sport. Hockey is probably the one that requires the most.
