Wow! Strasburg has played 45 playoff games and not once has won the big one??? They aren't that far down the road from me, I remember the Glenn Proctor coached teams well. Big rivalry between Clarke County and Strasburg still.

According to the lists posted, Strasburg has both the most playoff wins and playoff games without a state championship. The Rams have seven regional championships (1987, 1988, 1990, 1992, 1995, 1998, 2001) according to the school athletics web site. They are 0-4 in Group A, Division 1 state championship games with losses to Parry McCluer in 1987 (21-14), Jonesville in 1988 (21-20), Appalachia in 1992 (26-20), and Bath County in 1995 (30-20). The Rams and their fans deserve some better fortune should they make it back to the big game.

With the Athletes Lebanon has had they should have had a few State Titles, the 1991 team was dang good with them being trounced by a Antonio Procise led Sussex team, also went to championship the next year to be upended by Lunenburg Central

I was sure Lebanon had won a state title that year they beat us (Haysi) in the state semis... (1991 or 1992, I think?)

In 1991, Lebanon beat Haysi 25-15 in the state semifinals but fell 56-7 to Sussex Central in the state championship. In 1992, Lebanon beat Powell Valley 28-7 in the state semifinals but fell 20-6 to Central (Lunenberg) in the state championship.

R.E. Lee, like Lebanon has had some great athletes come through and it seems like they should have a state championship in football. Lee was a basketball school during the paul hatcher days, and once the weather turned and the playoffs started, those athletes were ready to get to hoops. 2005 really stands out to me as the bball team was in the midst of their 85 game win streak that started in 2003, so when hoops started they were ready to get on the bball court, and lost to the eventual state champion Turner Ashby in the first round of the playoffs after beating them earlier in the season. That team had the squad to win it all, but basketball came first for them (like a lot of the teams over the years)

of the teams listed, I think Clarke has the best chance to be the first of this group to win a state championship.

..when Parry McCluer went up to Strasburg in 1987, they were met with a parade celebrating Strasburg's state title...before the game mind you. The Rams were selling State Title hats and other apparel during the game.

After the Blues won the game, Glenn Proctor (Strasburg coach) along with some of his players came out and told the Blues players to "get the F off their field!".. there is a picture in the Lexington Newspaper of Coach Williams wearing one of those Strasburg State Titles hats after the game.

Deserve better? Not sure, if they acted like that during every one of their state title games..well, karma sucks.

Their basketball team has been the scene of some recent drama as well. Something in the water?

Ha! I thought the same thing when I read those articles about their basketball team.

The last time I went to a Strasburg football game was in 1999. And I can tell you, they had about 2 dozen people that went up and down the sidelines giving the refs and Riverheads players hell.

Maybe that has changed now since they're not very good in football as compared to back then.
