I have watched a few games this season and this kid has shown so much ability and seems to be a level above other WR I've seen. Hinsdale South Destin Talbert look like he has to be the top or top five in the state at the position. Have you seen him and what's your thoughts on the position.?

Sign him up with the Bears (along with a few other prep WRs in the area). Bears are offering internship credit and its a good resume builder to play on a CFL team as an amateur before college!:(;) With the added weapons on the outside and with the Bears move to the Canadian Football league - there is still a shot for them to make the Canadian playoffs!!

You are all missing Joshua Tomas from Crete Monee. What a player! And over a 3.0 GPA. You must see his mid season highlight film.

This thread wasn't a question asking who is the best WR in the state. This was a prouddad making a statement. Personally, I didn't want to jump in promoting my guy (Pierce) or debate about other worthy candidates. I figured prouddad was simply putting his guy on everyone's radar.

Austin Nagel from Lemont has been a stud but is fighting some nagging injuries this year. Was a big time pass catcher on the camp circuit this summer.

I still can't believe that O'Shea is not drawing more interest from D-1 schools. I have never seen a kid that goes gets a ball like O' Shea does. Yes, speed is an issue. But I have seen plenty fast guys who can't catch a lick.

My supervisor at work is a Palatine guy and his son plays. We had a gathering a couple weeks ago and Mrs. Supervisor was going on about O'Shea. Then I turned on the game thursday and she was right.

Me too! He's fast enough to be a TE in college.

Agreed..If you question his ability to catch, go to the 4:50 of the CN100 highlights and see his pick..athletic freak of nature..He also had a highlight reel over the shoulder catch and a gritty 40 yard TD catch and run at the end to give them a chance. Always raises his level of play in the big games. IMO, he's the textbook definition of a "possession receiver"

He's been a natural athlete all his life - older brother(s) were athletic but he's something special... Palatine has plenty of good players, but I've never understood why they don't target him more. Kpjasion - is there a HUDL highlight link?

From what I've heard he's been years ahead of others his age since grade school (source: grade school teachers - not his Dad!) and also a pretty damn good basketball player too.

I've never seen a kid go after balls and come down with them like OShea. Every game he has a catch that makes you say "unbelievable". He runs great routes and is a great blocker. As Quags said, speed is an issue. The only time I've seen teams be able to contain him is when they press him with a good athlete who can bang him at the line. That is probably why he hasn't gotten big offers. I think he'll be a great fcs receiver.

It's hard to target him when teams adjust their coverage to him every single game.

This is is Hudl page -> http://www.hudl.com/profile/5208393/johnny-oshea/videos

And I've talked to his dad in the stands too and he knows how good he is :) . He was All-Area in football, basketball and volleyball as a junior last year.

Agreed - BUT he still makes great catches in spite of the coverages. Throw him the ball!

I agree with MS4ever that he should have 5-8 catches a game but that's hard to do when he only gets 4-5 targets a game. Guess on my part but probably close to accurate.

Make the opposition try to stop him and watch the Palatine running game continue into the 2nd half...

Sorry - venting some pent-up frustration.

Right on! Targeting your best player often will only open up everything else.

Couldn't agree with you more. The Maine South game was a great example. O'Shea caught 2 passes all game, one was a great catch and run for a TD.

I don't know what they were thinking..Use him as a decoy there or that he wouldn't be able to break free? Not sure, but I was just looking and only against Stevenson and Evanston did he have more than 5 catches. I know Orlando and Rivera are also very good players, and Moertl had that monster game against Schaumburg, but IMO O'Shea should get his hands on the ball as often as possible.

I'm hoping Palatine learns from Maine South's example last year. They were 4-3 after losing to New Trier, and then they made some changes and ran the table to an 8A title -- beating an unbeaten West Aurora team, a Barrington team they had lost to earlier, (sadly) a 12-0 Palatine team, and a 13-0 defending state champion Loyola squad. I think they need to get the ball into Stoudemire's hands as often as possibIe; I haven't liked the running back by committee thing. Additionally they need to go to O'Shea early and often, get him a minimum 10 touches, and then while teams are focusing on him that opens up coverage even more for Rivera and Orlando. Play to your strengths..

25 posts and no one has mentioned Mike O’Laughlin that makes me greatly question this board.

Mikey O can flat out play, one of the best high point pass catchers I have seen in the last 25 years, I will throw nick calcagno from NN in the mix, this kid makes sick plays, all great players mentioned, hard to narrow down the best.

Wow, are you kidding me. Those are incredible numbers for only 6 games. And against quality opponents. Geez, that is awesome stuff. I expect big numbers from AC WR's but those are crazy.

The best i've seen in person this year is Tyler Nubin from St. Charles North and WR isn't his best position. Incredible athletes, runs great routes with great hands.

Probably one of the best juniors that absolutely noone is talking about.

Can't really argue against this. Hell of a player and doesn't get enough pub.

He s a 6 5 or 6 6 wideout and te from glen Ellyn at Fenwick. Game changer committed to West Virginia
He's very good. Big target. Runs good routes and very good hands. Not as athletic as an O'Shea, but a few inches taller. I wasn't really impressed with his speed. He's kinda like a marwede - really hard to defend him as a HS DB due to the size / height disparity. He's headed to West Virginia and scored the only points F had against LA.
