Tennessee. You have the most money and lesser expectations at this point. I think they probably are the easiest to recruit to as well, though Auburn could make that claim due to proximity.

Arkansas isn't even in the same league at Tennessee/Auburn.

1. Tennessee. It's the only major state-supported university in a power conference (well, after the 2013-14 academic year); 2. Arkansas. Less populated than Tennessee; 3. Auburn. Divided in-state loyalties are a concern.

The one thing that is cause for concern about Tennessee is the reports of funding difficulties that have been in the news re: the Athletics Department. I'd like to know how much the new SEC Network contract will help. Otherwise I might have to hire General Hammond away from USM to sell a home game.

I just fail to see how anyone could ever consider Arkansas as in the same ballpark as Auburn. I almost put Arkansas on the level of MSU/Ole Miss. Divided loyalties don't matter to Auburn....state of Alabama has like 5 million people, plus Georgia and FL panhandle folks almost consider Auburn an in-state school. They have an 85,000 seat stadium that's always packed. They don't have a problem with support or money, plus they are located much closer to much more talent.

It's Tennessee/Auburn, then a big gap, then Arkansas. Arkansas is not a place where I would want to coach football.

Arkansas has the Walton family and Wal-Mart giving them $300 million dollar donations. Don't underestimate Arkansas. They also have Jerry Jones.

Exactly. Don't underestimate them. I think of Arkansas as being one of the better-run athletics departments as far as bang per buck is concerned.

I agree, which is exactly why I don't respect their potential as much as Tennessee and Auburn. Arkansas is running at max capacity. Without a super-coach like Petrino (easily one of the best in the country, probably 1 or 2, on-field) they just aren't a championship caliber program and never will be until they develop a better recruiting area. They really weren't even with him there. They never really got close to winning the whole thing. Arkansas does not recruit nationally. They are only going to have an advantage with Arkansas kids. They are behind Texas, aTm and probably even the Oklahoma schools when it comes to Texas talent too.

Tennessee and Auburn are not running at full capacity. Both have much room to improve.

They all have room to improve...

Tennessee and Auburn though will be a bit hampered with multiple Division I football playing schools in their states (the Vols less so with Memphis and MTSU; Auburn has Alabama, Troy, UAB, and USA).

Expansion will likely help out Arkansas quite a bit as Texas A&M and Missouri are in adjacent states and they will be playing both universities each year as rivals so I think they'll improve their recruiting in Texas and Missouri.

Edit to add: I don't mean to disrespect Vanderbilt. They just have a bit more of a national presence. At least that's my perception.

Don't forget Tyson and JB Hunt. Don't underestimate tysons money. They are also in the top 100 in the world as far as revenue.
