Southerners being red necks, tell them to watch Evil Genius.

THe topic was which is better documentary and which crime was better between Evil Genius, Jinx, and Making a Murderer.

Ive watched all 3. All 3 were really good. I put on Evil Genius last week and within 10 minutes was hooked. It’s four hour-long episodes and my *** didn’t get off the couch till I finished it. The level of crazy in that woman is off the charts.

Evil genius is riveting if you haven't seen it.
Scary that the local cops, State police, FBI, and ATF were clueless and would never gotten past square one without one phone call spurred by a lovers quarrel.

I'm two episodes into Evil Genius and would still be watching it if was humanly possible. I'm finishing it tonight for certain.

From what I've seen, it's crazier than Making a Murderer. MaM is just a corrupt police station that framed a guy. I have seen some evidence that makes me not so sure Avery is innocent, but I can't convict the guy either. This Evil Genius show is something you couldn't make up if you tried.

Avery is guilty as sin. The police did some not so kosher things to make sure the case stuck. I have no doubt that he killed that girl.

When watching any program like this, always remember that any halfway decent TV producer could make Charles Manson look like an innocent angel who was framed if all you knew about the story was what he presented in a TV show.

I understand that. I still can't say beyond a reasonable doubt Avery did it. Many people thought he did the first one too, then technology came around and he was freed on DNA evidence.

I can't say for sure he did it based on the evidence I've seen.

That's just it. You haven't seen the evidence. You specifically haven't seen the evidence that points to his guilt. And it's not a coincidence that the case was presented the way it was in that TV show.

The Jinx was an HBO documentary series, so I'm not sure if it is on Netflix. Watch it on HBOGO, or at http://documentaryheaven.com/jinx/

The Jinx is absolutely chilling to me. No Spoilers, but Robert Durst is one creepy sociopath.

And unlike the other crimes mentioned, he would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for those meddling kids (i.e., the documentarians).

The Staircase

For those interested in this genre of documentary, you need to watch The Staircase. It sets the bar for this genre in my opinion. You can find it available for free on some sites.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0388644/

1. The Staircase
2. Robert Durst
3. Making a Murderer
4. Evil Genius

I did not enjoy Evil Genius. She was a manipulative person that targeted the weaknesses of unfortunate people. She was by far the least interesting focal point figure in any of the above documentaries. The first 15 minutes of the series was interesting....after that it went downhill with each episode.

I agree on Evil Genius. It started out riveting, but then I lost interest.

I have seen some evidence that points to him doing it, or at least being involved.

What I am saying is that there is enough other things to make me think he may not have. For example, the police hadn't found anything when accompanied and then, when they weren't supposed to be there, went unaccompanied and happened to just find some critical evidence. They weren't supposed to be there because they had lost their retirement due to sending him to jail the first time. It's circumstantial, but procedures matter in things like this. The fact that he found it when unaccompanied and not supposed to be there in the first place looks really convenient. He should have known better, because if he didn't find anything then ok. Since he did, it looks like he personally planted it.

There's just enough for me to not convict him. Not saying he is innocent. I just can't say he is guilty. There's a difference.

Is the Staircase the one where they throw in the possibility of an owl attack? If so, I've heard about it on a couple different podcasts.

That is it

I believe it is 10 episodes long with each episode being an hour. It gives true insight to the legal process/strategies and the personal impact it has on all those around the subject. You can probably watch the series through Sundance online. It was one of those series that once I started I could not quit.

The Staircase

The Staircase has now been added to Netflix.

It should be a good series to pass the time before Omaha. I saw it a long time ago on Sundance I believe. I highly rec that fans of this genre watch it.

Wife and I watched "The Keepers". It's about a priest in the Catholic church and a nun that is found dead. Very intense. Makes you want to dig that SOB up and kill him again. This gets into repressed memory and all sorts of interesting topics.
