Carl Torbush had 2 starting seniors at corner last season and an NFL caliber defensive tackle. Prior to this season, our defensive line was touted as the best in the Big-XII and many considered it one of the top 5 in the nation. We have a pre-season All American safety. I don't think we can blame the dismal performances on youth or lack of athletic prowess.</p>

Look at Baylor, do they recruit better than us? They have a very solid defensive backfield. Torbush is completely lost and his scheme isn't working, nor do the players progress any from week to week.</p>

This was what a lot of us thought on here when Torbush was announced and everyone pretty much took the wait and see approach.

I also agree that you cannot judge the guy on one game, but damn, it was one REALLY bad game.

Mullen is a competitive guy and I don't see him just sitting back and letting this happen week after week.

I would like to know how many other DC we attempted to get before Torbush. I think I remember reading that Torbush actually contacted State buy faxing his resume. That right there should have been enough to make us nervous. We will have to see what happens. At this point Mullen has said that the coaching staff, including himself, is responsible for what took place this Saturday and you cannot really ask for much more from Mullen at this point.

Unless Torbush has a drastic improvement, I don't see him making it to 2010 at State.

Torbush's defense gave up 77 points to Oklahoma? If I could use an avatar, it would be a face with eyes popping out of it.

Oklahoma could probably come close to scoring that on us now even without their QB.

Torbush has a proven track record of...lousy results. I too took a wait and see approach, but I choked when I saw his name as our DC. I have serious doubts that Mr Torbush will remain on the staff in 2010. Dan won't allow Torbush's ineptitude to wreck the future. Torbush is a fired coach walking IMO.

Yes we all had reservations. We all had optimism and thought we would get the UNC and Bama Torbush and the jury is still slightly out.

But if we rank in the lowest of the low on defense history tells us Torbush cannot make it change. If memory serves me he had some of the most consistently horrible defenses his years at A&M.....EVERY YEAR.
