Our infield defense was terrible, our base running was horrid on more than one occasion, and our hitting...I thought we led the SEC in hitting? Sure couldnt tell from where I was sitting.

Pictures to come later.

I don't blame the players for quitting because they know that very few of them will play the amount they have this year and it has got to be tough, being a competitive guy like Cohen, dealing with the lack of talent. Can we just end the season after this weekend and stop the embarrassment?

that the main guys that are going to be cut are bullpen guys. I know, I went out on a limb there. If my estimates are correct, I think we're looking at cutting seven pitchers and the outfield is going to depend on which JUCO guys come to State next year. If all the JUCO guys come to MSU, I think we're looking at cutting at least two outfielders and maybe an infielder like a Rawdow or a Bussey.

we have 18 or 19 new faces on next years. I think we bring back 5 or 6 pitchers and 11 position players to join the 18/19 new.

The 5 pitchers are ...Routt Whitney Moore Houston and Pace. Jones is a wild card. I know nothing about Tyler Johnson.

The 10 position players .....Powers, Butler, Powers, Sneed, Collins, Freeman, Duffy, Ray, Brownlee, Adkins and Rawdow.

actually your list isn't much different from mine. I figured that we were bringing in 20, but I kind of picked that number because it made the math easier.

All I know about Tyler Johnson is that he wasn't good enough to make this years staff, so how bad must he be that the staff feels like they have to RS him?

I think Jones is worth keeping. He hasn't been pitching because he broke his finger. He is one of the hardest throwers on the staff. He pitched at a 2A high school, and I think the biggest thing with him is that he is really raw, but I think he has a high upside. I could see him possibly being a closer for us as he develops and refines his breaking ball. Jones also needs to add some muscle, I think he only weighs 168 pounds. He was also drafted by the Indians out of HS, the only guy to be drafted out of our last recruiting class.

A lot of people will look at your list and say Houston? He sucks. But I agree with you, because I think he has value because I think he can be a good situational guy. I think we are having to kind of misuse him because of our utter lack of a bullpen. He should not be expected to go through a lineup 2-3 times-although I am aware he did that on Fri.- I don't think he should be expected to do that on a consistent basis.

the problem is talent. No way Cohen would ever be labeled as a quitter nor would he let the players quit.

Also, I don't think any player is safe for next year including Sneed and Butler. I think C Powers is gone. I do see Routt and Whitney back, I wonder about Moore being a weekend starter as well. I believe Pace and Houston will be back and contribute next year. The coaches like Rawdow and Brownlee but they could be role playeres for the future but who knows at this point.

I'm just sick about the mess Cohen and staff were left with, it's gonna take some time to compete with the upper half but we have a long way to go. At least two and probably 3 more years to see where we are headed as Ga, Sc, Om, Ar, Lsu are light years ahead of us for now and it's gonna be a tough climb.

The Kentucky fans are sick about the mess Cohen left them with this year too. It's the only team in the SEC with less talent than MSU.

When did Ky have baseball fans, they may have less than 100 who care. As for as what Cohen left them, didn't they beat us 2 out of 3 and aren't they playing for a Sec tourney berth? Also, could it be there HC isn't coaching them up?
Just saying. Oh I almost forgot, I would think John Cohen was the best coach in the history of Ky baseball, wouldn't you?

DawgStudent said OM mailed tickets to every season ticket holder for the spring game. That is total BS.
Since you're so obsessed with it.... I'll explain it to you.

The money raised from ticket sales goes to the M-Club (letterman's club) for scholarships for children of M-Club members.
90% of the spring game attendance is walk-up and pay at the gate.

I am a former letterman and am in the M-Club. We send eight tickets to every M-Club member a month before the game and ask them to sell the tickets and send the money into the Club. It's on the honor system to return the money and not just give the tickets away.
Apparently DawgStudent has a co-worker who's an M'Club member and received his tickets in the mail.

That does NOT mean that EVERY season ticket holder was sent tickets.... as DawgStudent erroneously miss-stated.
Only the M-Club members..... about 1% of the season ticket holders.

So, HD6...... I'll stick with the truth. You and DawgStudent can continue to make things up out of thin air.

I can't find anything where Kentucky baseball fans (all 10 of them) are complaining about the mess that Cohen left. But I'll take your word for it, considering your credibility is far beyond anything ever seen before on a message board..

Is that you?

I have a feeling that we are going to hear about the Cohen left UK in shambles fallacy for about 10 years.

This would be like Bobby Johnson leaving Vandy and people saying that he left Vandy in shambles.

And since the talent magically disappeared when Cohen left, I'm guessing that must mean that the man can coach, because you can't win without talent right?

Sorry, but you cannot have it both ways! LOL

If you think the Ky coach isn't coching them up..... then by your same argument, isn't it likely Cohen isn't coaching up MSU's players very well too?
Or does this just work one way??

Cohen recruited one great class that panned out.... his first class at Ky. Those guys graduated last year and now the program is at rock bottom talent wise.
After that first year.... the word got out about how he treats his players. I've talked with two of them.

Kentucky will be sitting at home watching the SEC tourney on TV. They are near the bottom of the SEC, just like they were when Cohen arrived there.

Kinneson should send Cohen a Christmas card.

And don't get me wrong- I'm not calling you out. I wouldn't be surprised at all if some guys like that transfer, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if some guys that we think are untouchable get cut. By the same token, some of the guys that we think are cut bait could very well end up staying.

Now, what you are saying wouldn't surprise me that much because I do know that some of the players parents were upset with Cohen for the 144 pitch outing by Whitney. That could explain Forrest Moore. Especially since he has tendonitis- he could reason that came about from being "over worked".

Freeman may want to tranfer because if he stays, there is a good chance that he will have to share time with Wes Thigpen, and possibly even Kolby Byrd. He may not want to do that.

Back to Moore, and along the same lines as Freeman- there is a very good chance that his weekend spot could be taken by one of the Fr. pitching recruits like CC Watson, Chris Stratton, or maybe even Luke Bole, depending on how everything shakes out in the fall. That means that if Moore stays, he could very well end up pitching midweek- not that I think that would be a bad thing- or possibly be a candidate to be the closer or another role in the bullpen. At the same time, he certainly will be in the mix for a weekend spot as well.

at times 4 freshmen position players, including their leading hitter. 3 of those freshmen (not the one batting .370) were drafted last year. Their clean up guy was one of the top Juco hitters in the country last year. One of their weekend guys is a freshman that was drafted last year. Some people say James Paxton might go in the first 5 rounds of the draft. And Chris Rusin is getting done again this year.

Oh and they've had 2 guys that played well last year just fall off the map this year. But Im sure you knew that.

To say they have less talent than us is just laughable.

One of their biggest problems is they've lost 8 of 9 to teams that will host regionals. They've got a young team that was certainly expected to struggle after losing Spier, Cowgill, Carroll, Wilkes, Albers, and Green.

Appreciate the compliment. All of my posts are based on facts and that's why I have the credibility you just mentioned.

And you're right.... all ten of their fans are glad he's gone!

Editor's note-Never thought I'd have to edit a post on this board for a ROFLMAO. How freaking gay are you? I'm convinced this a joke.

Our guys ARE coached up. We don't have **** in the bullpen. We only have 2-3 guys that even belong in the SEC. I've seen both MSU and UK in person, and I have to say that UK is better than State. I think the results on the field proved that to. We have less talent than last year, and yet we have improved in every statistical category and are on pace to have more wins than last year.

When Lou Piniella coached the Devil Rays, did that suddenly make him a ****** manager? The Cubs apparently didn't think so, and they were right.

If word has spread about how Cohen "treats his players" then how do you explain his first two classes here and his last class at UK? Once again, he had one of the top HS pitchers committed to UK last year, and the guy- Webb- wanted to follow him to MSU, but Cohen wouldn't let him because of his agreement with UK. Webb is probably going to be a second round pick in this years draft. Maybe he didn't get the memo, or is a masochist. The players that UK has now are by and large a product of the fact that 1. It IS UK baseball and 2. his first team had a losing record. Heck, Cohen had to go to Canada to get players.

where are you getting your information? John Cohn is a relentless worker, competitor, loves Msu, recruits 24/7 and most of is a winner. If Ky was glad to see him go they must not have told there AD as he promised him the "moon". You do realize we are talking about Ky baseball not basketball?
Btw, if the players on this years team don't like Cohen, good maybe will get the "they try hard and there good ole boys" out of the program and bring the Will Clark, Paps, Brantley, Powell, and many other "fire dogs" who played with emotion and cared about winning.
Will see about Cohen and Msu in about 3 more years. I'm betting we get back to the upper half of the SEC in baseball.

He was the baseball coach at MC along with the legendary DM Howie when I was in 9th grade. Kinneson was the ONLY teacher I was ever scared of. Mainly because the rumor around school was that he got fired from Prep for throwing an overhead projector at a girl.

I always made sure that I took note of potential projectiles when he was around.

Oh, and you can not refer to Coach Howie as anything other than "The Legendary Coach DM Howie."
