Brutal . . . I mean a decent team could get slaughtered with that schedule. UK's got to find a way to probably steal 2-3 games they "shouldn't" win.
7-5,against that schedule 20-11,with three of our top 7-8 out would constitute a heck of a coaching job by MP in my opinion
Oh yeah for sure. 20-11 and probably a 6-7 seed. The new standard for Kentucky basketball. This type of thinking/expectations is unacceptable

With that schedule I just pray we get into the tournament. You have to protect home court somehow and steal some of the middling games on the road.
Take Boozer, Foster and Brown out of Duke's lineup for the rest of the year and tell Scheyer he's fired if they don't go to the final four... Some people are hilarious with their expectations.

You have a massive number of Q1 games......some of these are home........some we'll even be favored in..........just by the sheer number of opportunities this team will be able to improve on seeding

Also while I know this isn't "UK standards" we really need to reevaluate things in terms of record and what is good and what isn't. The SEC is brutal again this season. A record of say 11-7 doesn't sound good. Heck it's two games going the wrong way to a .500 record. But with teams beating each other in this conference 11-7 could also mean the 2nd best SEC or the 3rd best SEC team.

It does seem like Kentucky always gets the hardest SEC schedules each year. I'm assuming they rig the schedule for TV rating purposes.

Probably because Maliq Brown is the most similar player on Duke's roster to Kam Williams in minutes and production. Or did you think I meant Mikel Brown Jr from Louisville? And Foster most closely resembles our missing PG Lowe.why did u lump in brown and foster with boozer

yes it is, and the Cat's need to figure out how to win at least 5 of those games, in my opinion.
Five wins would put us at 18-13 (and likely 14 losses after the SECT) on Selection Sunday. Does that get us in?
Lots of opportunities there. I feel more confident in winning these games now, than I did just 2 weeks ago.
Losing Kam is going to cost us 1 or 2 of these, but really, you just need to protect Rupp and try to steal 1 or 2 on the road.

2nd year at UK and we will easily have double digit losses 2 years in a row.
Likely middle of the pack SEC finish. No conference championship or SEC tournament championship. And squeaking into the tournament or and hoping to achieve a 6 seed as our ceiling.

Sure - we now have to accept that a 6 seed is now considered a success for Kentucky.
You can ***** about mythical standards (that don’t actually exist and have never been true outside of 3 short boom periods in the 50s, 90s and 2010s) or play the hand you’re dealt and adapt.
I’m choosing the latter. I could be on suicide watch because I expected a final four and likely won’t get one. Or, I can support my team that has been battered by injuries, got off to a poor start in the non conference and are starting to play better over the past 2 weeks.
Nobody is excited about 20-11 and a 7 seed, but I would rather be in the tournament than outside of it and will always support my team, win or lose. A 7 seed sounds better than an NIT bid that we were facing a couple weeks ago to me. Again, hand we’re dealt or bitching just because.
Kam is only averaging 22 minutes a game. Moreno, Chandler and Dioubate are averaging just around 20 minutes a game. JJ only average 10 minutes a game. We easily have the minutes to make his minutes up.
That's what people in this thread are saying. There's even one that says he wouldn't be happy with a bad seed but at least we made the tournament. Like what?
I only saw one poster mention that going from 9-6 to 20-11 with the tough SEC schedule would be considered a good coaching job by Pope. Didn’t see anyone jumping for joy.
I know misery loves company and there’s lots of company on this board.
Hypothetically, what if these guys do something wild like go 9-3 over these next 12 and win the SECT to finish the year 25-9 with a 3-4 seed? Would it be acceptable to be excited heading to March or must we remain angry because the overall record wasn’t pretty enough and November/December was a nightmare?
The injuries are the best thing to happen to Pope. Barney will give him a 5 year extension if he goes 20 and 11 with this team.
Man are you a troll or naturally stupid? This team is 13-6, but has won four games in a row. Still, facing the toughest schedule in the nation, missing 3 guys that have primarily been starters, and saying if we could get to 11-7 in the SEC and 20-11 FROM WHERE WE ARE would be a great job has nothing to do with UK expectations and everything to do with reality. Let Duke or Arizona or Michigan face the same schedule we are and take 3 starters away for the season and tell me whether or not they play up to their typical "standards". Ridiculous dude

Vandy has quietly put together a good team and of course ole cal is at it at arkansas..... He beat us last year so the odds should sway towards us, but then again, they play well at home.

I know you're being obtuse, but to repeat something that's been repeated a thousand times. Pope is in his second year with THREE injuries and started his tenure here with an empty cupboard. Enough.
Thats the key. 11-7 puts you likely 3rd or tied for 3rd in the toughest league in the country.
I bet they would continue to play hard without them though. You cannot say that about a Pope coached team.
