The day after the season means some pretty deep frustration and division. Not good.
That's very true. I don't think he would have decided and announced this soon if he hadn't known for some time now. Hope others don't follow. We need everyone we can get and keep.

Are you serious?

During and after every game this year fans were clamoring for Barker to play. Social media makes criticism way more visible. No doubt PT saw and felt the heat.

I too would want to transfer from a school who has many football fans don't appreciate anything.

the next Homegrown Tim Couch or Lorenzen will think a little longer when deciding to Commit to Kentucky as well. At one point, PT had to shut off all his dam Social Media outlets or something of the like. Must have been getting heckled by the idiots. PUT BARKER IN. He will save us

Go to WKU and put up numbers and get a pro shot. Play in a great offensive system
He's not a good fit for that system, doubt he'd be able to play for WKU. Not cause the level, because his weaknesses would be exacerbated by a system that asks him to throw the ball a lot, make quick reads, accurate passes and go through his progressions. There's probably already too much film of him to salvage an NFL payday. Going to a place like LSU is his best bet. Put him behind a mammoth line, tell him to hand it off 40 times a game and let him air it out deep 10 times a game.

Best of luck to him.

With all of his "raw talent" that people point to, does no good if he throws the ball behind the receiver every single time.

No matter how good he turns out to be next year year is no reflection on this staff because they gave him every chance to hold onto the job and he couldn't do it.
Lol. Keep telling yourself that.

Also - did you watch the game yesterday? I saw Barker throw behind WRs and over WRs heads all day.

I wish him the best. But I think those talking about him playing in the NFL are under some kind of delusion. I don't think he has what it takes to succeed at the next level. I could see him making the practice squad, possibly 3rd string or backup for a short while. But meaningful snaps? Kinda doubt it. No offense to the kid. He may prove me wrong.

My take is Pat is smarter than our head coach. I think he can see his style of play doesn't fit what we are running at UK. He gave it his best shot and I wish him well and I hope he finds an offensive style that suits his skills.

There is more to the story about what went on with Kentucky Football this year. Barker has shown nothing in his 2 starts that would show me he would be QB next year. Patrick will have to compete for the position where ever he goes. It doesn't add up. Does anyone have any insight in to what happened to make him want to transfer?

Tough news. Id hoped hed really focus on decision making and the cerebral part of the game, win the job back, play great, and be a high draft pick.

Good news: This is still possible. Bad news: If it happens, it wont be at UK.

Best wishes to him. He had his faults in the field of play, but he deserved better than what he got.

Agree completely.

Best move for him. Transfer to a school were he can play next yr. He needs to be smart about it. He needs a pro-style offense to run. Once Wildcat, Always A Wildcat! !

He will need alot of work. But if he chooses a run heavy, play action offense where he'll always get max protection and minimal WR's running routes; he will do well.

The day after the season means some pretty deep frustration and division. Not good.

Im assuming he made this decision after the Vandy game; if not earlier. Otherwise dont see how this decision is made so quickly.

Whether he won the job here next year or not... its painfully obvious that he wasn't going to develop any more under this staff.

Agree with this too.

My guess is we may never know just how divided this team was - players and even coaches. I am convinced something was going on. If so, and it was a dysfunctional situation, then it's difficult to say what kind of coach Stoops might become. Maybe it was so crazy that it made him look a lot worse than he really is.

And even if that's true, it may not matter. We might not ever get a schedule like we had this year. 8 or 9 wins were there for the taking - when have we ever said that about the SEC? What could have been a springboard towards a solid future is more likely a catapult in the other direction. And the bottom line is, once you lose the fan base, it doesn't matter if you're a good, great or horrible coach, it's self-fulfilling.

Usually. Maybe Stoops can rise above it.
Had the same thoughts,we may not have seen anything yet, this could be the beginning of the crap hitting the fan.You have to at least consider that there are major issues within the locker room and maybe the whole program.

Have you watched our games? Have you paid any attention to the way this staff coaches? I think Pat is just going to be the first in the dominoes......

Why would he wait any longer? Barker moved ahead of him. He's only got 1 more year. His decision was probably made right before or right after the Charlotte game.

Why wait? He's days away from graduation then can visit schools for Jan entrance. Making something out of nothing.

So how many QB's do we need to go through before people realize it's the coaching?

barker and towles under Rich Brooks would of been worlds better

This season schedule was definitely an opportunity lost. I really thought we could have ended up say where UT did, at 8-4 and 3rd in the SEC. I think the fans and this board would have been extremely pleased with that. Instead for the 2nd year we get off to a great start, and then just fall apart. Part was the schedule got tougher, but the team just never seemed to jell. 1 season like that is bad, but 2 is a row is a trend. It seems all the optimism and enthusiasm which held through last years collapse is gone, and it's going the other way. If we end up losing a bunch of recruits to late switching it's going to be an awfully long off season for the fans, and the team, and UK could again get poor attendance next year. I believe the coming season is do or die for Mark Stoops as a head coach. Let's hope he does.

I can't imagine what I/4 you would want to keep.

Marrow for starters, Ansley is decent, Scott is decent as well.

Marrow is the only one that is a good get. All the rest can easily be replaced. Those 3 I listed are our best recruiters by far.

Unless they have been beaten out of the position. Does everyone really think Drew played so much better to make one think he would be next years starter? More to it? Thoughts

yes, I think there is "more to it." I think Patrick knows the team wants Drew.

The kid, along with most of the roster, could choose one or two of a million reasons to transfer

The program is a total mess and no better than with Joker... Except back then the fans weren't lied to and sold a bill of goods to follow complete trash. In some ways, this is worse

Joker lost big with bad players. Stoops is taking kids with potential and ruining their futures

Watch him go somewhere and light it up. Will make the UK coaching staff look even worse.
P
I hope our fans are happy. They have literally ran this kid off. Pathetic.
iI don't believe that for a minute . He wants to be an NFL quarterback . Do you honestly believe he is stupid enough to think this staff , with this line , would be able to help him reach that goal ?

Drew is better. Throws in front of the WR much better than Towles. Towles has a stronger arm but can't lead a receiver. Has good down field accuracy but that limits the passing game.

Drew goes through progressions like Towles did and also got used to having a short clock to pass or look to run/scramble.

Going forward. I'd much prefer Drew over Towles because of his accuracy.
