Matt Jones said he heard that Duke might be a possible destination for Towles, but who knows how true that is.

Is he looking at another Div1 school or going Div2?
I think he has to take a step down to play next year, maybe the new graduated senior rule comes into effect, probably should. I'm pretty sure he will find somewhere that he can play.

I will bet a lot of good QB coaches would like to try their hand with a player with his raw talent.

Surprised by this. Best of luck to him, he's a great kid.

Next season looks worse and worse as the days go on. If Towles lights it up next year then this offensive staff needs to be put under heavy scrutiny.

huh? So your saying that they are not under heavy scrutiny in your eyes? lmao!!!

3/4 of this staff needs firing right now. I'd say he is leaving because of the staff is horrible.

Quitter. He is quitting on his team just like he did all season. He is taking the easy way out instead of working hard getting his starting job back.

I think it's truly best for everyone. Competition can create better play but only for those mentally strong enough and I just don't think Towles was tough enough. He has all kinds of ability and in a better position or offense he certainly has what it takes to succeed.

For UK it's best to get Barker as much time as possible with these WRs and get better timing. Barker hit several WRs yday in the hands and it either just went thru or just got dropped. Barker's stats yday are a lot worse than he actually played!

Smart move by him. No problem with that. I hope the fans support Barker, and he develops as the hype when he was recruited. If so, everyone should be happy.

My guess is we may never know just how divided this team was - players and even coaches. I am convinced something was going on. If so, and it was a dysfunctional situation, then it's difficult to say what kind of coach Stoops might become. Maybe it was so crazy that it made him look a lot worse than he really is.

And even if that's true, it may not matter. We might not ever get a schedule like we had this year. 8 or 9 wins were there for the taking - when have we ever said that about the SEC? What could have been a springboard towards a solid future is more likely a catapult in the other direction. And the bottom line is, once you lose the fan base, it doesn't matter if you're a good, great or horrible coach, it's self-fulfilling.

Usually. Maybe Stoops can rise above it.

I hate to see it end this way. Kid committed to us during the worst of the Joker days. He absolutely bled blue and did the best he could.

The change needed to be made but I wish him nothing but the best.

We probably have a decent one that sat on the bench all year in Phillips, Matt Smith has SDS 8-0 in the MWC conference and has 165 passes in a row without an interception.

QB was not all of the problem, a few fans recognize that, and a lot of those problems should be a lot better next year. I think the overall play lowered our QB's confidence quite a bit this year also.
I'll say again...this staff has mishandled the QB position since the day they set foot on campus. QBs have to "play through" others mistakes. But it sure did look like Barker lost a lot of confidence as the game wore on, especially in the second half. Had he played some earlier that might not have been the case. JMO.

Peace

He's a 4th year junior and I think he's graduating so he can play anywhere next year providing the school doesn't have the same graduate program UK has.

How did the fans run him off, he had every chance at Ky. and played ever game except he last 2 even when we was blown out. and would have had a great chance next yr to play again, I would say he was moving on because he wants to play in a bowl game and he knew that would not be at Ky..

Liked his play in Spring game and came away thinking qb. position would be okay, turned out not so! Patrick inconsistency did not improve from 2014 season in fact regressed! Not entirely all on his shoulders a lot was due to mediocre o. line play but he shoulders a big share. Staff certainly went above and beyond giving Patrick his chance. Dublin, Ohio pro-style qb. 6'4" 195 lb. Gunnar Hoak suppose to enroll in December and will be able to go through Spring practice. Gunnar just ended a successful high school career! Imo Drew Barker seems to have more camaraderie with his teammates and Gunnar coming in plays a big part in Patrick decision to transfer.

Yeah, just lost a lot of respect for the kid. He was given 3 full years and was benched the last game of year.
What a crock of BS, a big time leader he is not. You just lose a 21 point lead to arch rival and he announces he is transferring, getting out of dodge. I could care less, I mean that is what's wrong with this team, a bunch guys that want everything handed to them. PT seems like a good kid but no tears from me. He was given the keys to this car for 3 years. He should suck it up and get through Christmas break and announce later. I mean what a ****$y way to do this. Run when it the going gets tough, sit me down and I will show you. Don't care where he goes, hope he has injury free career and is good health. This guy gets 3 years and first little set back than he leaves, No wonder the team doesn't win with this type of BS

Are you serious?

During and after every game this year fans were clamoring for Barker to play. Social media makes criticism way more visible. No doubt PT saw and felt the heat.

I too would want to transfer from a school who has many football fans don't appreciate anything.

And your obviously a toothless, worthless, uneducated, underemployed, typical dumbshit that always tells everyone what's wrong but never has a solution. It's the story of your life. You're a loser.
You may want to stop now ,, you are making his point with every post !!

He should have waited for a couple weeks after classes end to make that announcement. Transfer over Christmas.

Not a complete shock. I think the coaching staff gave him every opportunity to keep his job though. Sucks that he couldn't have had a better o-line to play around. Coaches now have no choice but to be all in on Barker.

This a smart move. Whether he won the job here next year or not... its painfully obvious that he wasn't going to develop any more under this staff. if he plays his cards right he could end up somewhere with a great QB coach and really up his draft stock. he wouldn't have benefited at all by staying here under any circumstances

Best of luck to him.

With all of his "raw talent" that people point to, does no good if he throws the ball behind the receiver every single time.

No matter how good he turns out to be next year year is no reflection on this staff because they gave him every chance to hold onto the job and he couldn't do it.
