If you transfer from one county school to another , do you still have sit out?
Really seems like a lack of uniform rule on this... in Catawba county you have to move to the new school district. U can't transfer without school board signing off and they don't do that. Other counties it's free for all

Seems like the bigger disctricts get more leeway

NC needs a 365 rule to stop this nonsense.
Kids are just going everywhere and social media is making it seem cool. Kids attend a school 3 years and reclassify to play 2 for a super team. Look at poor MP. They were about to have the best season in the last 20 years but kids didn’t have it in them to stay at their school.

I do think something should get done here, however; the NCHSAA cannot do anything regarding the transfer stuff. It has to be the School board of Education or at least that was the conversation on the High School Ot Podcast a week or so ago. Georgia has practically made it difficult to transfer now with the rules it put in place on transfers. South Carolina followed suit as well. You either have to make them 365 for a year, or allow them a 1 time transfer which Langston Wertz in the Charlotte Observer discussed a few years ago in a article. The only other way would be to go the route Georgia and South Carolina did which would enforce the rules through making parents show proof of residency and other quirks that are too long too post on here. Still alot to unpack. As AC Reynolds head coach Shane Laws put it, on the podcast he did that was posted on here. Talent through acquisition that's what we're seeing here!!
