Not understanding but will there be a transfer portal open up after first semester?
Would it be possible to get a good back up PG before the 2nd semester starts?
Would it be possible to get a good back up PG before the 2nd semester starts?
I think I've read where a team or two is apparently trying to do this. Do we know if it's a "pushing the envelope" type of thing or has it already been ruled as acceptable by the NCAA (or whoever the heck is governing the sport these days)? We could, apparently, add someone from g league or europe.
If all else fails we could play JQ in a similar role like Amari had last year. Coming off that high screen at the perimeter and the off guards cutting off zoom action. But we got to get JQ close to the block cause we could live off his rebounding. I like having 2 bigs in with Oweh/Aberdeen/CC or Kam.I think at this point they might just have to come up with something that works with what we've got when Lowe isn't on the floor. I'm not sure what that would be...
I read a story today about a g league player joining a team midseason, cleared by NCAAI think I've read where a team or two is apparently trying to do this. If “pushing the envelope” is even a remote possibility, forget it with Barnhart!I think I've read where a team or two is apparently trying to do this. He pushes envelopes to coaches and JMIIf “pushing the envelope” is even a remote possibility, forget it with Barnhart!
That's along the lines of what I was thinking, maybe MoD like that some as well. Both are ore threat to put the ball on the floor and drive to the hoop than Amari. If all else fails we could play JQ in a similar role like Amari had last year. BYU got a guy from D League and will make his debut tomorrow night for them.. 6'10" averaged 4 pt and 5 rb,, from Egypt.. Has 3 years left..Not understanding but will there be a transfer portal open up after first semester?

This is one of the reasons why collegiate athletics are dying. Money kills everything eventually. If you play 1st semester, you can't transfer and be eligible at new place 2nd semester. There was a recent transfer that DIDN'T play 1st semester and is immediately eligible.

Sorry man, I’ve got that spot locked up. I’m 40 with a 1.5 inch vertical, but I can burn the nets down from 3 and we need shooting. I don’t rebound and can run 3 point line to 3 point line maybe 2-3 trips before I die of exhaustion and can’t breathe lol.I've put my name in the portal but not sure they are recruiting 34 year olds with a 3 inch vertical.
To the question your guess is as good as anyone here... we hope there is an option that presents itself.
We need JJ to get stronger, learn better defensive principles, and to pass the ball. If he just would pass the ball he could be very valuable with his scoring.I think at this point they might just have to come up with something that works with what we've got when Lowe isn't on the floor. I'm not sure what that would be...
You know that, he would penalty write a letter begging them to not clear the player. If “pushing the envelope” is even a remote possibility, forget it with Barnhart!
Since we're dreaming I want to play the PF position alongside JQ. I just need to grow about a foot, add nearly 100#, and be 40 years younger. Goodness, I would be a monster or as they say now...a grown man. lol Well, don't laugh I still have that dream occasionally,Sorry man, I’ve got that spot locked up. I'm sure that guy is Mormon.BYU got a guy from D League and will make his debut tomorrow night for them.. 6'10" averaged 4 pt and 5 rb,, from Egypt.. Has 3 years left..

Problem with JJ is he can’t beat his man. Nobody on this team can except for Lowe.
I really think Acaden Lewis de-committing is what has put this team on thin ice. Pope figured him to backup Lowe, and he would have been more than capable. It’s still inexcusable that Pope didn’t go out and get somebody else, but at least he DID have a plan to prevent the situation we had with Butler. It just fell through.
I thought Acaden Lewis was likely the best high school PG recruit in that class for UK. He was a skilled multi-year player who looked the part of a guy that develops into a big time winning college PG - maybe as soon as into his into Sophomore season - and yet good enough skill wise to play the position as a freshman in a back up/shared role. But I have to agree with you that if the fact that Lowe was just a Junior scared him off, that's not a good sign that you've got the type of competitor you need to compete for a title.I haven’t followed to even see if Lewis has been playing well but Lewis is a loser imo. He didn’t want to compete with Lowe and got scared off from competition and it ended up being a wrong decision as he would’ve had all the playing time he wanted here with the way things ended up. I’m always a little wary about an athlete that doesn’t want to compete. If Lowe somehow manages to stay healthy all year maybe it’ll end up working out for us to have Aberdeen instead.
No scholarships left anyway.
I thought Tow got the final scholly...We have 14 real players as of now. Zach Tow doesn't really count I would assume, right?
Illinois just picked up a forward, Toni Bilić, 6 days ago from Croatia for this season.

trent noah its been nice knowing yaIirc teams have 15 roster spots regardless of status. We have 15. We cant add anyone unless we remove someone.
Lowe is a random bump from being done for good. We really should just never have him practice and severely limit his game minutes. Its the only way to maximize his impact on this season.

Fairly sure you pay enough NIL you don’t need a scholarship. They can pay their own tuition. We have 14 real players as of now. Zach Tow doesn't really count I would assume, right?

There's 2 ways to do it.. If opt in for the 15 scholarships you can't have any more players than that.. If opt out and go with 13 scholarships,, you can have as many other players (walk ons) as you want..Iirc teams have 15 roster spots regardless of status. We have 15. We cant add anyone unless we remove someone.
