Transfer Portal - Unintended Consequences?

I believe that most laws/rules/legislation changes have more impact through unintended consequences than the impact achieved towards the stated goal(s). That being said, what do you think those unintended consequences for the transfer portal will be?

1) I could see "player's coaches" retaining/getting more players.

2) Because of 1), I could see potential for coaches to be less likely to discipline players the same way as always, although I can't imagine guys like Saban ever changing a thing (and why would he?).

Will it be easier for a high-level recruit to follow his heart to a less prominent school and try it out because he knows he can leave if it doesn't work out? vice versa?

Does this rule unnecessarily reward pre-madonnas*** or does it level the playing field to give players deserved control over their collegiate career?

I know I'm wired weird, but every time I see some kind of rule change, I immediately start thinking about what it might really do vs what it was designed to do...
