I would love to have Perry at UK but his game just doesn’t translate to what Cal does or for that matter, doesn’t do. Cal doesn’t run plays to get good shooters open. He expects his guys to make their own plays. This is why guys like CJ struggle so much here. Heck, Devin Booker struggled to shoot in Cal’s AAU offense.

May be, but if whoever is the Kentucky coach can't get and utilize a player like this he for sure isn't the right person to coach here. A guy that shoots and scores like him, no matter where he is from, should be of the highest priority every year. And this guy being from Kentucky, needs to be here and treated fair by the coach. If he can shoot and score this good, there is a place for him on the court because we rarely have that. Looks like he could easily be one of the best offensive players in the country.

Your last sentence is one hell of an indictment.

It would be criminal not to get a kid like Perry. Even more criminal to get him and not run some plays for him the way he can shoot the ball. Man, I hope go after him aggressively.

Don't want him he's only a 4 star. We like 5 stars who are athletic and can't shoot.
Not true. We like shooters. But when they come here they have to give that up and make fans scratch their heads.

Dontaie Allen was as good as Perry.
No way, Perry has played much better competition than Allen. Perry is a all around player, Allen just played on the offensive end. If Allen could have a handle anywhere near Perry and pass as well he would still be at UK. Perry's basketball IQ is off the charts, he like a coach on the floor. Whether or not Perry ends up at UK is a unknown but you don't become the all time leading scoring leader ever, breaking King Colemans record if your not a outstanding player. Perry may be the best shooting the ball I 've ever seen in high school.

CJ has had a ton of good looks at the basket. He was having a very good game until he broke his ribs. He looked awful next game had no business playing. He has just been banged up all year long.

While I agree with most of what you said, I think CJ's issue was previous injuries.

Perry is good. I’d love to have him. Kid is a shooter for sure. He has an offer already, and as soon as Cal acts like he really does want him he’ll commit. If Cal keeps it cool, he won’t. I mean, 62 is amazing, but what was the competition last night? Not much. I do want him here though. He can score.

Go to Murray average 30 and be a star.
That's what I'd rather do.

I would choose to play over wasting years on the bench. We've got a lot of former Kentucky kids in these mid-major conference tournaments contributing. Former LCA kid sent Liberty to the ASUN title game off his three (over EKU and two former Scott County players).

Murray State is a good basketball program. You only get four years, make them count. Don't do any of this "Well, hopefully Cal might play me in my junior year' crap.

I guess you guys aren't watching the high pick and rolls and pick and pops with Wallace and Oscar. Or the side pick and rolls with Wallace and Livingston with Toppin spotting up as the safety in both cases?

Or didn't watch the double screen baseline action with Knox, Murray and Quickley to get them open? Or the curl cuts with Aaron and Herro?

But I do agree that you need to have good enough players to run good offense. You don't get over 800 wins and 6 FF's at 3 different schools and be inducted into the HoF by not knowing how to coach a team.

Internet warriors are called internet warriors for a reason.

I watched a lot of that full game video.

My son played high school basketball in suburban DC a few years back -- he was a sophomore the year Markelle Fultz graduated from DeMatha which is in the same conference. The year after Fultz graduated, my son's team beat DeMatha.

His team would have beaten Lyon County by 20, if that video is any indication of their athleticism and size. High School ball in the DC-Baltimore area is played above the rim. And none of his teammates went to a major D-1 school. Certainly not a program on the level of Kentucky.
I get your point Md, but three point has little to do with playing above the rim. If you have the quickness or cunning to get open and then make shots you can play anywhere in D1. Of course you have to guard a little bit too.

As someone who lives in west KY, i hope Perry goes to a school where he would play . I don't have much confidence that Cal would play him much.

He will. He is a smart kid and will be a great addition to any team.

I hope he comes to UK but if he wants to go to a smaller school to play more good luck to him. I think he has a commitable offer. Hawkins came to UK had some highlight games he stuck it out. I guess put Willis in same category. If Perry comes in and plays great I think Cal will give him a shot. Might take sometime to get there. Will Perry go to another school and just take over. Maybe he can????

Yea and the game is switching away from that. Fundamentals rule over athleticism these days

It isn't about that particular game. Dawson isn't good at basketball..... Can he do things on AAU circuit.
Make no mistake... That kid has skills on offense. Strong with the ball.
