It may be early, and he did inherit alot of good talent, but his gameplan against us throughout the game was pretty good, and against the rest of the SEC has been good all season long. They are definately the toughest team in the SEC, and on the road when they had chances to let the crowd give us an edge, they would come back, run their offense, and create a good look for themselves to quiet the crowd. That is the mark of a very well coached team. It may his first year, but he has alot of promise as a coach in this league.

Maybe it was Kennedy, Brady, or Gottfried. I can't remember. The "best coach in the SEC" changes by the week.........but it is never Stansbury.*

when he puts a young team on the floor. I'll give him credit for what he's done with the talent handed to him.

Shouldn't we see what he does with his own players, or at the very least let him finish A season, before we declare him the best coach in the conference over a guy with 3 Final Fours and 2 national championships this decade?

Well in the case of Billy Donovan, the man took teams to title games that had multiple NBA draft picks on them coupled with very deep recruiting classes. Trent Johnson didnt inherit nearly that much talent, although Marcus Thornton is a beast. Taz Mitchell is probably a much better player because of Trent Johnson's coaching ability then he would have been under Brady. I think Donovan has an edge in terms of pure achievements, but if you strictly an X's and O's guy, I think right now Trent Johnson is coaching a team that is alot better then they were expected to be, and thats because of Trent Johnson.

Well I doubt they were projected to be 8 and 1 at this point in the season. I think LSU is above where everyone thought they would be. Even with the talent they have I didnt think they would be 8 and 1 and would have swept us. They have a chance at 13 wins, and I doubt anyone had them slated to win that many SEC games.

Why? The same team(actually minus a lottery pick now) was 13-18 last season. What he has done with the players is nothing short of a total 180.

They may not be players he recruited, but the players clearly werent doing dick with Brady.

Johnson has obviously done a good job so far but the entire SEC is not as good as it was last year because of early defections and graduations while LSU returned nearly everyone. If Chris Lofton, Charles Rhodes, Jamont Gordon, Steven Hill, Patrick Beverly, Hendrix and Steele, Chris Warren, etc. were still in school then LSU would not be 8-1. We would not be 6-3 either for that matter. Johnson stepped in at a good time but comparing the record from last year to this year is misleading because LSU does not exist in a bubble.

every year is Kevin Stallings at Vandy.

If I had to pick a coach from an SEC school, and I couldn't have Stansbury, I'd probably go with him.

but its hard to call him the best coach in the SEC. Plus, I think that also needs to be divided up into best recruiter, best game coach as well....

Johnson inherited a very talented bunch that is finally healthy. Injuries and no PG have cost this team and Brady his job the last two years. Those two things have been taken care of, and you are seeing the results. LSU loses some good players and we'll see how Trent does the next couple of years.

Billy Donovon hands down. The man has won a NC plus he is the "dean" of coaches in the SEC.
Trent Johson is probably a good coach, but look what he inherited, the most experience team in the conference. I bet he does know better than Brady.
