First it was urban, as in "the ESCC coaches didn't like going into 'urban' neighborhoods."

Newsflash: Lane is urban with or without quotation marks.

Now you are backpedaling to good vs. not so good neighborhoods.

You are really screwing the pooch in this thread.
I believe MC63 lives in the affluent northern suburb of Libertyville, and has so for many years. Libertyville is 92% white, 5% Asian, and 1% African-american. He fled the south side years ago. What a hypocrite.

You were disproven with CCHS at Phillips and also at Morgan Park. Now you are backpedaling to good vs. not so good neighborhoods when I uncovered a Viator game played at Lane.

You are really screwing the pooch in this thread.

I admitted I was wrong with one of your examples, but if you think that Addison and California is a tough neighborhood, you've spent too much time outside the 606 zip codes.

I didn't flee anywhere. I was living in Evergreen Park and flying out of O'Hare frequently. I moved to Arllington Heights in 1973 because I couldn't get a cab home otherwise.

You should come to the annual Libertyville carnival each June and say hello to the Lake County gang police who are all over the place.

Further, your statisitcs must have been published in the 1950s. 92% white! The only place I know that's 92% white is Wilmette. You make no mention of Hispanics. You've heard of them?

5% Asian? C'mon.

As a (retired) professional speechwriter, I will share some excellent advice frmo my profession: Wikipedia is a great place to start your research, but the very last place to finish it.

Libertyville is at least 15% Asian, if not more. I live in nearby Green Oaks (which shares Libertyville's zip code). My subdivision of 21 homes is 45% or so Asian. I have Chinese people across the street from me, Japanese people to my left, morhinese to my right, and Indian folks behind me. We all get along great.

Where are the "Morhinese" from?

I never said that Addison and Western (Addison and California is across the river and is otherwise known as DePaul Prep) is in a tough neighborhood. Furthermore, YOU never used the word tough until just now. Originally, you claimed that ESCC teams didn't play in urban neighborhoods since the breakup of the CMC. Tough or not tough had nothing to do with it. You changed the meaning of your original posts after you were proven wrong.

Have you been up and down Western Avenue near Lane Tech lately? I have. While admittedly not tough, as you put it, neither would I describe it as anything close to genteel. It's about as far away from neighborhoods like Sauganash, Beverly, and Lincoln Park as Kansas is from Oz.

And your statistics are off as well. Wilmette is 85.5% white, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. On a percentage basis less white than Libertyville, which is 92.8% white according to the Census Bureau.

I don't care what was measured almost seven years ago. Today, Libertyville is not 92% white. I don't know why I'm continuing this with you because I don't even live there. But I do shop there and there's many, many people who speak Spanish in the stores restaurants, and the library. A very large number speak Asian languages.

I stand by what I said re ESCC schools playing in the inner city. Further, if I was off by 2 or 3 games over 15 years, I can live with that. I also believe that St. Viator didn't take any risk playing a game at Lane Tech, and that was my point.

You may have thought that was your point, but you didn't communicate it well. Perhaps in your mind you drew some sort of distinction between risky Chicago and safe Chicago, but you failed to communicate that distinction in writing. You used the word "urban" instead of the words "tough" or "risky." Although you used the term "inner city" in the paragraph quoted above, it is the first time you used that term in this thread.

And you were off by at least three games. When you make a sweeping statement as you did regarding the ESCC schools and about a certain school (CCHS) in particular, you set yourself up to be proven wrong. You may want to stand by your words, but your words were inaccurate and, apparently, did not convey your true meaning/intent.

You are correct in that I should have been specific ... but I generally view this and other sports message boards as typed bar conversations. That being said, I disagree with your final "count," but I don't care enough to prolong this conversation any further. Frankly, if I'd known that this thread would have gone this far, I never would have responded in the first place.

MC63,

Perhaps I'm assuming incorrectly that you realize that being Hispanic is an ethnic as opposed to a race designator. Hispanics come in all races even Asian Hispanics(see South America's Racial makeup). Some of your statements are amongst the most ignorant I've ever seen. You sure you're retired from writing speaches?!

"Amongst" please quote the whole statement if you're going to quote me.

There I go again. My apology tour is getting longer and longer.

I've considered what you said and you're correct.

However, while "amongst" is technically correct, it's use is archaic. Perhaps you should have said, "Some of your statements are among the most ignorant I've ever seen."

Apparently, you haven't seen many really juicy ignorant statements. If I'm among/st those at the top of your list, you need to get out more. Try watching Fox.

While I am sure there is one somewhere, in the last five years what conference was changed due to a sport other than football?

You are correct, there is one somewhere. It is called the ESCC. Way, way back in the fall of 2015 Bishop Mac, Providence and Fenwick left the ESCC for girls sports.
