Collins is the perfect compliment to Stokes because he isn’t a scorer. They would be amazing together…

Collins is definitely not a ball dominant scorer. He's more of a small ball 4 than a wing scorer who is super athletic, long, and has a nose for defense. He will need to put on weight, probably isn't a one and done yet, and honestly on film looks A LOT like Caleb Wilson did at this point last year. Not saying he is Caleb Wilson and will make that same jump. But with a good system, proper diet and weight training, and playing with veterans around him, he has a chance to be extremely solid. Easily more athletic than everyone on our roster except JQ. And he's willing to play with Stokes for what that is worth.
Idk I kind of look at them for that they are. You could watch Wilson last year and see he is a top tier basketball player. Collins don’t give me that vibe. He looks like an athlete that needs a lot of work. Stokes will dominate college. Idk if Collins is gonna come in and dominate.
that said I would absolutely love to have a top tier athlete. Sign him up. I’m not complaining. I just don’t feel like he’s a top ten basketball player and like someone else stated.. once he signs with Kentucky his rating will drop.
I get that. I made the comparison to Caleb because they are similar size, and Collins is actually heavier than Caleb was at this point in Caleb's senior year. We'll see how his game develops during this season and if he still looks as raw by the end of it. Caleb didn't look like a world beater, he just had that "it factor" athleticism everyone could see at this point last year.
Collins rose through the rankings because of his undeniable athleticism, how he flies around the court, finishes strong at the rim, rebounds with tenacity and power and how active he is on defense. He is rough around the edges and would really need to polish his offensive game to be a main option, I will give anyone that. But in Pope's system he isn't going to be asked to be the main guy every night. I don't think this is the "get Collins and that's our 1 Five Star stud for next year and not take anyone else." Collins is the complimentary freak athlete with a high ceiling you can mold into a star and put him alongside a ball dominant scorer like a Stokes or Holt or Smith Jr. type player. I look at the Collins commitment (possible) as a strong indicator UK has someone else lined up to pair with him which will take the pressure off Collins and allow him to grow. But you are 100 percent correct, if he commits to UK he will drop to a 4 star and fall outside the top 20, through no fault of his own.

No doubt he’s good man. We are comparing him to other top ten players. Comparing him to number one player in Stokes.
