Not sure about that. If they understand they can come in and get spot minutes to knock down threes, they would be valuable.

We can hopefully get 4-5 studs in the portal.
But we have to keep 4-5 as well.

I would keep my shooters if I was Pope and Maybe Diobates

JJ and BG kinda known to be leaving, I’ll be surprised if jelly stays around as well.

I think MM, CC, & KW are the ones he’s prioritizing, I’d like to keep Mo but if pope has too many players then he’s going to keep that dumb sub patterns trying to keep all happy. Don’t forget about Hawthorne as well is staying.

I like Mo toughness but he can’t shoot, not a good FT shooter and can’t dribble to get to the basket very limited with ball handling.

Our teams biggest weakness the past 2 years has been defense abd rebounding.

There's two ends of the floor and im more worried about that than going bombs away
Neither has worked last 2 years with 12 plus loses got blown out by anybody good so how was that defense versus bombs away.

If Noah and Jelavic are our shooters we are in for as bad a season next year. They were our shooter this year and Trent ended 5-27 in conference play and Jelly ended 7-32 in conference. 20 percent from our “shooters” on 60 attempts.

You act as if players don't improve during the off season. Also, I said spot minutes to shoot threes .

Obviously doesn't mean "our shooters"

You have to have someone as your 8th and 9th man.

It's hard to recruit better players than Noah and Jelly to come play spot minutes

Mo d is a liability
It is 4 on 5 when he is in the game
He can't shoot, handle the ball or pass

Like to keep Trent. He provides another potential shooter (not this season though), experience, good kid/no problems. May not get a lot of minutes but can come off the bench to rebound, get loose balls, maybe hit a 3 on occasion. Could be a modern version of Cameron Mills who was 1-dimensional but indispensable player in 1998.

I would like to know if Pope asked any of the guys that are going in the portal if they would stay? Or are they leaving because of lower NIL and smaller roles

There’s more to the game than offense, he was our best defender along with Oweh & it’s not like we have a group of tough physical players on this team. Never said he was Jordan but there’s a place for a guy like that on a team.

I see no downside in keeping Trent. He didn’t shoot as well as he is capable of this season, but he did come up with some loose balls and other small things. It all depends on him wanting to be here in a limited role for limited NiL.
I think Jelly could get better. He actually showed some nice post moves. He needs to get stronger and tougher.
Mo, I’m split on. I love his hustle and grit. If he could develop a mid range jump shot, he’d be great. If not, he’s a bit of an offensive liability. It kind of depends on who else we could get to replace him with.
I think it was best for everyone that JJ and BG left. I wish them both well.

I hope Jellavic stays, with the right coaching he could be a really nice player. 6'11 and can shoot the three not a lot of those players around.
