It’s possible we won’t have Renardo Sidney to, uh, talk about much longer.

According to an SNY.tv source, Sidney will not return to Mississippi State for his senior season and could pursue either a transfer or professional opportunities. A 6-10 junior power forward, Sidney is averaging 9.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in 22 minutes per game for the 17-5 Bulldogs.

Following a lengthy NCAA examination of his eligibility and an even longer suspension for receiving improper benefits — he missed the entire 2009-10 season and part of 2010-11, Sidney joined the Bulldogs last season and averaged 14.2 points and 7.6 rebounds. But that was only after he was suspended multiple times by the program for behavioral issues, including a public fight with a teammate.

He also has had conditioning issues throughout his stay, which led to him not accompanying the team on its summer 2011 trip to Europe and to the limited number of minutes he is playing as a starter this season.

SNY’s source said Sidney is closer to 310 pounds than his listed 270.

Teammate Arnett Moultrie, who has developed into an All-America caliber center in the absence of greater contributions from Sidney, told the Clarion-Ledger of Jackson, Miss., that Sidney would be “unstoppable” if he could sustain his current contributions for 35 minutes.

“I don’t think more criticism can be thrown out at him than what he has had over the last year and a half,” MSU coach Rick Stansbury told the paper. “I don’t think that affects him any more because his game is better; everything about him is better. There’s not much you can say that hasn’t been said about him.”

if he wants to leave, let him... this isn't anything uncommon, nor is the time of release. Just because it's Sid, you seem to be taking extra offense to it.

And I don't know how you can say the timing is normal? Middle of conference play a starter announces he may transfer? Not normal timing.

unless he just went down a level which I doubt he'd do. If he's leaving, he's going to the league. I don't look at this as a want to transfer as much as I do him saying he's more than likely wanting to go pro. I've heard plenty of players mid-season already declare they were going pro. It's not unheard of.

Bailey was the only person in our program man enough to stand up to him. Just did it at the wrong time. Somebody needs to kick the guy's ***. It doesn't matter what he does next because there is no way he will ever succeed in basketball. Not in Europe and not at another program. The guy can't even jog down the court. I just don't get it. I have never seen a player coddled like a baby the way Stansbury has handled him. He must have some serious **** on stans.

It wouldn't shock me if he didn't come back. In fact, I think most would have guessed he wouldn't be back. This article isn't some big revelation. Also, you can't blame Sidney for someone writing a article like this. Who knows if these guys are just assuming like a lot of people.

...dude, you are not even a good college player.

Any professsional league anywhere in the world would laugh you out of the gym.

My advise is to transfer to Miss. Valley.

They have a decent program, decent coach, play in the SWAC where nobody will pay any attention to your antics & flaws, & after your half-assed career in the SWAC is finished, in order to keep you out of the factories, perhaps Sean Woods will help find you a coaching job in some small town in Kentucky.

Yall are trashing Sidney and don't have a 17ing clue if there is an truth to this article. <div>
</div><div>If I was Sidney I would leave to because we have so many ****** fans that anxiously await the slightest bit of bad news so they can **** all over our own damn players. We have alot of fans that don't deserve the top 25 team that we have. </div><div>
</div><div>I am starting to think NAFOOM has it right. This board turns to **** during basketball season. ***** about the team. ***** about the coach. ***** about the crowd. ***** about the coache's wife. ***** about the coach's kid. ***** because we lost a road game to a top15 team. Some of you are so busy bitching that you forgot we are ranked.</div>

Give the big guy a break! So he is not billed as the press made him out to be...he still has talent, and seems to be in a acceptable mode.
Sidney is changing, and our fan base (is not...sucks!)

Give the youngster a break!

...the rare times I even look at NAFOOM, it makes me sick.

It's amazing how some of you not only go over there & post with those ********, & embarrass Mississippi State University in the process, you also take their ******** to heart.

As far as sixpack hurting Sidney's feelings:

If the big guy can not stomach a bunch of fat, white nerds talking **** about him on a messageboard, then he's definitely not tough enough to effectively post up the Center for the Boston Celtics.

You are missing the point. A guy from Sporting News, of all places, writes an article saying that Sid may transfer and some of you go apeshit and start going off on Sid without a shred of proof that this guy knows anything at all. <div>
</div><div>Now ask yourself this: Who would first if Sid was transferring? Marcello? Locke? Murray? Gene? Robertson? Some of the guys on sixpack with connections to the basketball team? Or some dipshit from the Sporting News who probably thinks we are the Ole Miss Bulldogs?</div>

Why should we care if Sidney thinks we're good fans. He dick slaps us in the face everytime he steps on the floor.

"and seems to be in a acceptable mode."

If you believe Sidney's play is acceptable, you need to quit talking basketball. Just because he can get 14 garbage points, doesn't make it acceptable. It's embarrassing half the time.

If he returns then that's great. Despite what all you "experts" here think we are a better team with him on the floor. Does he have his faults? Absolutely. Does he drive me crazy watching him sometimes? Absolutely. You just have to take the bad with the good with him. If he leaves then that is is also good. That removes a distraction and we can get on with it. I'm sure you "experts" will find some other player or some other thing to ***** about.

Wow, you would be quite the thin skinned puss then. You would seriously leave the college you had spent 3 years at in order to sit out somewhere else for a year or to play in the minors somewhere, just because some anonymous fans in the stands and on message boards think you are lazy and hate seeing you waste your potential?

Speakin of wasted talent, i think Marinovich once said that he responded to a guy who told him he was wasting his talent with- 'Well whose talent is it to waste? Mine.'
...or something close to that. Its an infuriating answer, but its true. Its his choice to be a total waste of talent. Same with Sidney.

Say what you will but I doubt many top 25 teams have threads about their teams like we have on here. I agree that there are a lot of legitimate criticisms of our team but too many on here take it over the line and make it personal. To read this board you would think we were 5-17.
