Good call Kaizer on the early call of VV setting up CF. I actually thought that wouldn't be the case because its just too easy. I want to like this show but damn if it ain't hard to sit through. Only 3 episodes left maybe it will be akin to our run a few years ago. McAdams doing the ***** role next week might be interesting..

Too much stuff is going on right now but the story seems to have finally got to the point of "oh ****" level.

Dark episode but still interested.

Also if they removed the biker cop (Taylor Kitsch) all together this story wouldn't miss a beat. He was a pointless character so far and just a big name.

I've enjoyed the season more than most but with two episodes to go, even I'm starting to think this season is pure ish.

The last couple of episodes gave me a little hope but last night was a trainwreck. I don't even really understand what happened as far as advancing any plot, especially with only two episodes left. Every single "subplot" (rapist got a cop's wife preggers! VV can't have a kid! Rachel McAdams has issues! Bike cop is gay! And maybe a war criminal!) And while there wasn't any blue balls of the heart last night, there was a pretty long scene and a lot of presumed exposition dealing with Stan's family. Only problem with that is WHO THE EFF is Stan? Some guy who got killed but why does VV or the audience care? I actually thought VV was going to drop a "stay gold, Pony Boy" to Stan's son.

The visuals are great. Nice looking shots. But the only thing worse than the writing this season is that guitar chick's singing.

Still better than Ballers, though. Or Treme. Or The Strain.

^ No, Stan was a different guy from Casper. He's the dead body in a warehouse that you probably missed if you blinked. Casper was the dead body at the rest stop that the closeted cop cruised into.

I suppose the only thing last night really gave us is the idea that possibly the two children orphaned by the blue diamond heist may now as adults have something to do with Caspar's killing? Am I reaching here?

What a BS effort from HBO.

I dunno. Seems like as good a guess as any. Oh, and apparently we should all be suspicious of that one guy VV works with that was putting the girls on the bus at the nightclub. What's name? NotStan?

Only, and I mean ONLY way this season gets saved is if it turns out that red-headed kid was the guy in the bird mask.

Those two kids from the jewelry heist have to be Mayor Chessani's two kids. It will be interesting to see how and why he would adopt them

My complete guess as to who Bird Mask Guy is and who gave the diamonds to dead Hispanic girl:

Not going to waste my time blasting this **** show anymore. This entire "cycle" has been a tremendous fail for HBO. Ratings have been trending down for everything on Sunday night but more importantly, these shows are getting universally (loudly) renounced by the internet.

Ballers is beyond corny.....no chemistry, no acting, scarce comedy, no story. Haven't touched The Brink yet...doubt I ever will.

HBO has obviously built up a great deal of good faith over the years with the home runs they've had and they've set their own bar very high. Just sucks when they churn out turds like these....but it happens.

BTW, this is Stan. He was the guy who pepper sprayed that dude on the side of the road who was apparently doing something shady at Frank's casino. I can't find a picture from the show but this is what he looks like:

maybe the meth head that Velcoro whacked was involved in the jewelry heist and the mayor wanted him killed? he was tight with VV, so he feeds him the info knowing that Velcoro is a hot-head and won't ask a lot of questions. VV was a bit evasive about where the info came from.

I watch Ballers right before True Detective out of just being a fan of The Rock but I hate everyone else on the show...everyone. There's very little progress to the plot but I still watch. I guess cause I don't have anything else to watch anymore.

The Rock is basically playing himself in this show and that's a tough thing to do without coming across as fake. Yes, I know that sounds ridiculous but it's true.

His interactions with Corddry are cringe inducing. Completely agree on the rest of the cast. Pitiful.

This was HBO tripling down on the Sex and the City / Entourage success model. They went one too far, IMO.

There's only so much you can watch of egotistical douchebags wasting money and sleeping with whores before it gets real old. Entourage's charm wore off for me after four seasons.

The concept of the show is interesting in itself but there's just no reason to care about anyone. It also doesn't help that Cordry is the bagged cereal version of Ari Gold.

I really just want all of the athletes to go broke and have the worst happen to them. The characters in the show are such d-bags that it makes me take a more in-depth look at pro sports and makes me realize how accurate this show is and how much I probably dislike real pros too.

I'm used to having to explain in more detail of what's going on in a TV show when my wife asks me but I'm actually struggling with this season. There's so much crap going on and time was wasted on tedius crap.

Santa Claus could be behind Casper's death at this point and it wouldn't surprise me. This season seems to have little to no direction on where it is going.

If they're not gonna show McAdams having sex then I don't know if I can be friends with HBO. At the very least show gay dudes hot fiancé with her shirt off. Last season we got huge tits, girls talking anal, revenge sex, handcuffs....wtf True detective, wtf?

I stopped watching after the 2nd or 3rd episode. Keep reading the thread to see if it gets interesting enough to make me want to finish it. Doesnt appear that way.

Barring a phenomenal finale, I dont see how this season can be seen as anything other than a total failure. Its been total crap. Its an interesting concept to basically reboot the show every season; but they shouldve just stuck with MM and WH.

Show has potential. The Rock is awesome. But Cordry should just be written off and the episodes be extended to 60 minutes. 30 minutes just isnt enough for any character development.

Sir, HBO used up all of the nudity budget in last week's episode with the sex party. :sunglasses:

Rack Chitown. True Detective Season 1 is vastly overrated, and Season 2 really isn't as bad as it's popular to say.

As far as nothing on TV being better, Humans on AMC is actually pretty good. Being an AMC show, you have to DVR it to get past the overwhelming amount of commercials, so it's a fairly quick watch after True Detective.

Did anyone feel like they had to take notes last night to try and process all of this new info that came out in this episode?

I had to read this last night to make it really sink in because of how many different names were mentioned.

"During the 92 LA riots Burris, Dixon, and Holloway got away with stealing the blue diamonds. Executed the parents and the kids saw the whole thing. Casper was the treasury or accountant at the time. They took the diamonds and gave them to Chessani and they all invested in the City of Vinci and bought into the corridor."

Now the orphaned girl became Casper's secretary and I believe her brother is going to be some shocking character.

I've tried. I really have. I just cannot get into this damn show. Just not at all. I think I'm throwing in the towel. Really disappointing - wonder what the hell happened from season 1 to this one, but this show is damn near unwatchable.

You're "throwing in the towel" with one episode left? What?

I haven't watched last nights or the one before, so I'm throwing in the towel with 3 episodes left I guess. 3 hours is just a lot of damn time honestly.
