evidence would prove his lie. But in Monday’s remarkable, marathon hearing of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Comey said there was no such evidence. Trump’s claim, first made in a series of tweets on March 4 at a moment when associates said he was feeling under siege and stewing over the struggles of his young presidency, remains unfounded.

Comey did not stop there. He confirmed publicly that the FBI was investigating possible collusion between Trump campaign officials and associates with Russia, part of an extraordinary effort by an adversary to influence the outcome of the 2016 U.S. election in Trump’s favor.

“There’s a smell of treason in the air,” presidential historian Douglas Brinkley said. “Imagine if J. Edgar Hoover or any other FBI director would have testified against a sitting president? It would have been a mind-boggling event.”

So Trump "lied" about being under surveillance?

The FBI says he really was colluding with Russians to influence the election?

And Trump committed treason for accusing a former President of illegality, after the release of names of innocent American citizens caught up in an unknown FISA data collection sweep?

All that's actually happened in this case didn't happen, and all that didn't happen actually has happened?

Beam me up Scotty!!!!!!

LOL. Nunes confirmed that Trump transition team was surveilled (it had ZERO to do with Russia). He said that Trump, himself, might have been surveilled. As I have said, I don't think Obama ordered the surveillance but I think he was briefed on the matter by Comey (who refused to answer during questioning). However, a prominent retired intelligence officer stated that Obama was almost certainly briefed on this matter given its importance.

Here are Trump's accusations. His own words:

Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my "wires tapped" in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!

06:35 - 4 Mar 2017

How low has President Obama gone to tapp my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!

More lies from Team Trump:

On Thursday,
Spicer suggests Obama didn’t use American intelligence services, but instead the British intelligence agency GCHQ through which "he was able to get it and there’s no American fingerprints on this." Spicer quotes Fox News’ Judge Andrew Napolitano, a judicial analyst, who made the allegations the night before, citing unnamed sources.

The accusations induce fake news websites to pick up the story. One claims that a warrant has been issued for Obama’s arrest; that claim rates
Pants on Fire.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders on ABC’s This Week says she thought Trump based his allegations on sources "that have led him to believe there was potential."

"Everybody acts like President Trump is the one that came up with this idea," Huckabee Sanders says. "There are multiple news outlets that have reported this."
PolitiFact rated that False, as no credible news reports had said that Obama wiretapped Trump.

Team Trump backtracking on their lies:

"The president used the word wiretap in quotes to mean broadly surveillance and other activities during that," Spicer says, adding, "there is no question that the Obama administration, that there were actions about surveillance and other activities that occurred in the 2016 elections."

More Trump lies. His own words:

"Well, I’ve been reading about things," Trump says. "I think it was Jan. 20, a New York Times article where they were talking about wiretapping." PolitiFact rates Trump’s statement False, because the article does not say Obama ordered a wiretap on Trump. Instead, the article addresses intelligence investigations into some of Trump’s associates.

More lies from Trump... disguised as a "joke".

The same day, German Chancellor Angela Merkel visits Washington. In a joint press conference, Trump continues to stick to his allegations. In an attempt to joke he adds, "as far as wiretapping, I guess, by this past administration, at least we have something in common."

At the House Intelligence Committee hearing, Comey and NSA Director Mike Rogers both deny that there was any information supporting Trump’s allegations in his original tweet.

"With respect to the president's tweets about alleged wiretapping directed at him by the prior administration, I have no information that supports those tweets and we have looked carefully inside the FBI," Comey said. "The Department of Justice has asked me to share with you that the answer is the same for the Department of Justice and all its components. The department has no information that supports those tweets."

Rogers denied that he ever requested that the British intelligence service GCHQ to wiretap Trump. He said that would be "expressively against the construct of the Five Eyes agreement," an intelligence agreement between Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Best Va, if I accuse you of snooping on me does it really matter how you do it as much as it matters if you are?

You're all upset that Trump said he was wiretapped and totally ignoring the intent and purpose of him being placed under surveillance without his knowledge.

A peeping Tom isn't accused for only using a set of binoculars if he's also using a telephoto lense.

Why aren't you as upset with Trump being spied on, and some of the conversations swept up in the sting being illegally leaked out as you are about Trump missing on the exact methods used to snoop in on him and violate his right to privacy?
