The firing/quitting thing has to be planned. Trump is a media manipulator and his fortune shows he isn't stupid. He lives through cable and network news stations. They can't get enough of them and Trump knows this. Always breaking juicey tabloid-esque stories on weekends, then going into interviews etc. when the Monday morning cycle starts again to change the subject to some rallying call on national television. Rinse and repeat.

Americans are addicted to television and media. He generates hits and all important neilson ratings to the television stations who cover him. The news channels and sites can't afford to drop him. He is media gold and knows how to manipulate the average uneducated American vegetable.

As for Trump's supporters, are any under the age of 45? He appeals to the middle and lower class, 'Nam hatin' Individual from the days gone by who actually spoke their mind like that (meaning their word is their word). Revenge of the Seniors might I say. One final push against the bra burning hippies that have assumed leadership positions.

Like Trump or not, the reason he is taking over the polls is because he doesn't give a damn about political correctness, unlike every other candidate in the field from either party. I haven't yet decided who to support in 2016, but like most Americans I'm tired of career politicians spoon feeding us lies, promising one thing and doing another. Trump connects because he says what he believes and lets the pieces fall where they may. No pre-prescribed party platform for him. Party officials on both sides are so dead set against Trump because he isn't one of the insiders......they don't know how to deal with someone who didn't spend a lifetime learning how to fool the public. And neither party offers a candidate capable of challenging a proven leader such as Trump. With Trump you know what you're getting - the others, not so much.

I see it quite the opposite. I have no idea what I'm getting with Trump. As of now, he is all hot air. He has yet to get into specifics on a single aspect of his platform (I'm not even sure I know what that is at this point). Trump is all sound bite and zero substance. If what you want is someone who is just gonna talk **** and not back anything up. Trump is your man. He is basically talking to the rubes who don't know anything about leading but more importantly, anything about managing.

Trump is a disgrace to the process, the party, and the office he is running for.

Mark this down, if it's between Hillary and Trump, I'm not voting. I can't support either of them.

Anyone think of this scenario? Or conspiracy theory?

Trump is a businessman, and as much as I can't stand him, he is very successful and knows how things work. Is it possible that he is doing this to GUARANTEE that the Democrats win 2016? Why would he do that? Perhaps he believes that the Democrats policies or platforms for 2016 would better fit his businesses?

Maybe I'm wrong (and probably so), but it's fun to think of such things happening...

He is drawing massive interest to the gop race and making all the candidates look better than they would look without his presence. The media is busy bashing him instead of the other candidates and the reason is because he wants the dems to win?

Trump keeps the media engaged with a constant barrage of circus drama, and thus can keep dictating everyone's campaign agenda. He thinks he's the chosen one.

Meanwhile, I'm waiting for the rest of the GOP to ball up and get us past this circus act.

don't think the "making the other candidates look better" part is working.

Ye of little faith. Trump cannot control a ***** thing unless he has people to whom he appeals. If he carries on with a constant barrage of stupid ****, people will eventually see thru it and move on to a candidate they like better or totally go by the wayside. Can he really "dictate everyone's campaign agenda"? I think not. But, if he can control a candidate, do the country a favor and Id him/her so the rest can ignore.

Its funny because i have never liked trump but i do love watching him destroy libs and their political correctness. They have made a career out of controlling republicans by threatening them if they step outside the oc box and trumps has crapped all over their political correctness.

Exactly. And some of them, obviously dave in this thread, aren't even intelligent enough to figure it out. LMAO! Trump's stupid comments still aren't hurting him; he's still leading in the polls. I love it. The longer Trump leads, the better. This is more entertaining than Bachman's comments seven years ago, "legitimate rape" and Palin explaining about the American Revolution.

How does him leading the polls hurt the gop? People are listening to the gop candidates. Nobody is talking about the dem candidates.

Everybody likes to watch a trainwreck. It's nothing more than a spectacle at this point. Problem is I really do want to see someone in the GOP field shine thru this and so far that's not happening.

Hillary and the dems are perfectly fine with that. She has a double digit lead right now over Trump, so this is a non-issue.

I think it's a riot you keep thinking I want Hillary to win. When did I say that again? Oh that's right, I never did. All I've said all along is that she will probably win big, and I believe that.

Trump is a disgrace to the process, the party, and the office he is running for.

What's interesting is that there are all of these theories on what his true intentions are and none of them include actually taking the Oval Office. And he is leading the GOP field ... STILL!! Even after all of his ridiculous antics. "She asked me hard questions ... whaaaaah whaaaah"

I know a lot of hard leaning lefties are loving it as it signals a really weak GOP ... but to have this in one of our major parties is a pretty bad indication of the health of our system as a whole.

Left or right, everybody should be concerned about this.

This isn't indicative of a weak GOP. This is indicative of weak USA. The LCD's have taken over....both parties. Reality TV has finally won. There are now more idiots in this country than productive thinkers. That's what this is indicative of. Thank God I only have about 10 more years of this **** before I am off to Costa Rica full time.

Well even Trump nailed it himself when asked about why he gave to Hillary Clinton's campaign years ago. He wanted her to attend his daughter's wedding. :(

Still haven't decided if he is a Nationalist or a Populist. Or a National Populist.

Either way, its Monday and I can't wait to see the reactions from the polls when those numbers drop* this week.

I don't know if Trump will be the nominee, but I do know this; He will DESTROY Hillary Clinton in any debate or circus side show if it comes to that. You can count on that.

If, by "destroy" you mean hurl the most insults and have nothing meaningful or anything of substance to offer, you are correct.

But don't worry, there's not a snowball's chance in hell he will be the GOP nominee.

Take it anyway you want. Regardless, he will make her look like the blabbering run of the mill idiot she really is. Obama exposed her nothingness in 2008.

To paraphrase Lloyd Bentsen, "Trump is no Obama". LOL. Since you appear to be too young to know what I'm talking about, Lloyd Bentsen handed Dan Quayle his *** and that was one of the lines he used, telling Quayle that he was no Jack Kennedy.

Yes, he did.... and then he got to watch as Quayle became Vice President and not him.

No, Trump is most definitely no Obama.

Other than giving the media years worth of one liner fodder, what good did it do for Lloyd Bentsen? Actually if Bentsen had headed the Dem ticket instead of that buffon Mike Dukakis, they might have won in 88

I agree. I was a year short of being able to vote in that election, but I remember thinking that Bentsen came off much better than Dukakis during that election cycle. I should also note that Bentsen was being compared to Quayle, so he may not have faired as well versus Bush. At least it would have been a fair fight, and Dukakis might have been a better match up for Quayle in a debate.

Dukakis destroyed himself with that macho photo of him in helmet playing soldier in a tank. Still have a very vivid memory of that photo, and it is used frequently for a variety of reasons.

Absolutely. The Willie Horton issue really hurt him too. He just came off as weak, and he never did anything to shake that perception.
