Trump went nutty enough to get the GOP nomination but his problem is that instead of going that far and stopping, he just kept on going. Really, how do you think that plan of his is going to play when the general election comes? Is that going to be popular? No, it's just going to look silly.

Seriously thinking this idiotic plan is viable? You are one of the nuts that predicted NC wouldn't lose jobs over the government discriminating? No wonder you are a proud whacko

How does that impact businesses that do work in both US and Mexico? Also, if you are deporting all of the illegals, you lose a fair amount of your bargaining power with regard to the remittances flowing into Mexico from the US. Lastly, how much would it cost to enforce this rule, and what are the ripple effects for us?

Everyone scoffed at him being able to make Mexico pay for it, and this probably would work in that regard. I didn't comment on any of the rest, nor would I vote for him.

Fair enough, but I think this would have a ripple effect. If we aren't letting money into Mexico, is Mexico going to let our goods in? Is Mexico going to send goods to us? Is Mexico going to let money flow back to US corporations with interests down there? This is how you start trade wars. I don't see how this would be good for their economy or ours. I also fail to see how a wall is effective outside of a populated area unless you have a lot of Border Patrol folks manning or policing those portions. That's more man power than they have, and they are going to be busy helping round up 11 million people. I can't imagine this going well in any scenario, even if the funding piece works.

It absolutely would, and somewhere where I haven't even bothered to think. I doubt Trump has either.

Doesn't your op say "this could work "?

You are just like the other dishonest wingnuts. Can't keep up with your own spin and lies. Geesh. This one is right in front of everyone.

And don't try to spin that the words "this could work "has a secret meaning. You plainly stated you might think it is viable

Trump always said you need to have leverage. America has a lot of that.
America has some of that. How long before Ford goes bankrupt if Mexico won't let them bring the parts and vehicles back across the border? That's one of many examples.

Ultimately, Mexico needs us more than we need Mexico.

At what costs to us are willing to prove that point?
They're our 3rd largest trading partner, it's all (Republican) crazy talk re: limiting trade with them. It would hurt both countries.

The average Mexican worker assembling vehicles or making parts earns $7.79 per hour including benefits, according to the Center for Automotive Research. That's substantially less than $37.38 in the U.S. and $39.04 in Canada. You appear to be a smart person, you do the math.

Like the war on drugs, they will find other paths to the US. How about our wide-open border with Canada?

Canadians are sterotyped to be white. Nuts like the idiot you are talking to are too racist and have not been spoonfed by right wing spinners to have an answer to that question.

Bru, I am actually a "somewhat" conservative Republican but I don't think the Mexican wall accomplishes jack squat.

You can be a conservative and a republican and have a clue in life and I have never said anything contrary to that point. dave is not one of those. On this subject, I find your opinion to be reasonable and I'm saying so.

So, why can't the US find these tunnels...until after the fact?

The next move, they'll bring them on in via a cruise ship, or Canada, or via a flight from Cuba.

I guess my final point on this topic is I'd rather the US spend more funds attempting to prevent illegals via Intel from entering our country vs. some $50 billion wall.

Its a lot harder to find a tunnel if it is used once a day or once a week. A constant flow of people leaving one way would be pretty obvious.

So, is it worse paying $50 billion to build a wall that won't catch x % of illegals vs. just beefing up security and Intel at say $50 mil/year?

It's a stupid proposition, much like most of the current Admin's policies.

I dont think a wall would cost 50 billion and I am not sure it is worth it but it is worth the debate.
