Why do people think Lanier is miles better than Robinson? Robinson got 14.5 ppg in a far better conference and was good doing so. Lanier was good in a lower conference. I like Lanier, I’m just trying to figure out why people think he is miles better than Robinson
It is the preoccupation with shooting the three and the idea that he is a perfect comp to Knect. And he may be just those things, but I am hearing what you are saying. Robinson very well could fit our roster better. And I think some are hoping for both. I'm not sure that is realistic but reality is getting adjusted all the time now days.

By the way, there is speculation there may be a boom tomorrow. Achor? Who knows
Achor, Lanier and Robinson, call it a class and start working. Also while we’re going we need to continue to talk to the guy from Morehead and let him know this is going to be one of the best Kentucky teams who are going to compete for a title. Let’s go. I really like the kid from Florida St as well but we’re running out of spots. Haha. Man I love Kentucky being Kentucky again. I’d love to know the guys (Great Players), we’ve had to turn down for whatever reason. Going to be some tough day for this group come practice time. Haha.

If we get Lanier and Robinson that will be 2 guys to the bench who weren't expecting to be bench guys. I'd take the chance on hurting some feelings to get these 2 though.
The days of promises and not recruiting over others are done. This is a , you will have a fresh start and a couple months to earn everything you get. Hard work is the number one win from now on I believe. What’s your thoughts about it? I really believe Pope is going to stick with that and it doesn’t matter who you are you’re going to earn it. That’s how it should be anyway. Just my opinion of course.

I just don’t get it give Pope time to close out the rest of the roster ,coach these guys ,and let us get to playing games. Then you can judge him on how he does. We will actually have a coaching staff that will run plays, change up plays, watch film , and make adjustments during the game, and actually do whatever it takes to win a game. Yes they still want to get the players to the next level. That’s not the focus anymore the focus will be on winning games for the University of Kentucky from November- April and hanging banners. Some of you guys need to sit back and enjoy the ride before lashing out about who’s on the roster.

This guy....

One of the best shooting guards in the portal. Dude was 44% from downtown last season and averaged about 20 PPG. Big-time shooter, an absolute sniper.

I'd honestly prefer him over Johnelle Davis who so many here were absolutely gushing over.

Either one would have been great but I hope we go all out for this dude.

I don't get why people think there will be 2 or more NBA caliber players commit.

I think if we do it right we can sign 1 more like that. Someone who can be a small ball 4!
Butler,Oweh,Brea,Kriisa did not commit to only play 15-20 mpg. They are looking for 27-32 mpg!
I’m pretty sure they would be happy with 18-20 a game. If not who cares some are seniors. Butler will for sure play, he’s a winner. They will be paid the same no matter what. Some of these dudes are committing to schools with no chance to play like Big Z.

Robinson and a guy like the UCLA player are what it’s gonna be. Maybe Chaz Lanier or Jaylen wells tell you they want to come, you take them but those 2 are extreme long shots

Like you said, we definitely might not but then again we also might. Hard to say either way. I hope we do because I personally feel we need Jaxson Robinson and another elite guy, preferably a guard/wing.
Whem do these guys actually get to meet and scrimmage?

Yeah hard to say. Lanier played in EKU's conference last year, clearly not the same level of competition. Ja Morant played at Murray State ... and he turned out pretty good.

Fwiw, here are the stats for the 95-96 Pitino team. He went 9 and 10 deep. No team was in better condition than we were. Jeff Shepherd played 12.8 minutes per game and he was a Jr on that team! Jeff Shepherd! I really do look for Pope's teams to look a lot like what we saw from those teams. Younger people really should spend some time watching some (poor quality) videos of Pitino's teams and Popes BYU teams. I think you'll see how similar they are pretty quickly but with far less talent.

The crazy thing about the ‘getting guys to the NBA’ philosophy is that they will get there regardless if good enough! I’d argue that winning at tournament time when all eyes are on your team is the best showcase prior to the combines.

So do we have a shot at this guy or not?
Today I was thinking about Lanier, and imagined what it would be like for Pope to say to him "kid, you want to be a villain and gain notoriety for it? Come to UK and let's whoop some Rocky Top. Not sure how that would go over :D

Remember those 3's he hit against UNC? Dude was triple teamed and hit it. If that fat *** missed that jumper, that shot goes down in UK history.

I still have my Fox, Monk, and Bam signed ball.
Remember it like it was yesterday.

I was sitting on my floor in front of the tv in shock that he hit that then werewolf left me in more shock lol

96 probably beats 12 but it’s a close game. Davis alone would cause that team issues. And before you think “but but but Marcus Camby” that dude wasn’t close to what AD was
I'm taking AD and Jones over McCarty, Pope, Prickett, and Walker. MKG vs Anderson and Mercer would decide the game.
